The ball is rolling!!!

The ball is rolling for us as of today!!!

My DH and I are having surgery together, and after alot of painful, frusterating phone calls, we finally got started with the psych eval today!! The pyschologist saw me at her house today for the interview and I will go tomorrow for the "test" - then on Monday she will give me the "results" of the test and our meeting today.

Can anyone tell me if they had multiple visits and what is this "test" that she speaks of? I understand the hour consult where she gets to know you, but what kind of test do they give you and what are the "results"?

I am wondering if it is just like a personality test or something like that. I do test well....lol. :(

My DH called another Dr. that told him the pre-op eval was 8 visits!! :lie: Of course, he told them to get lost and stop raping the insurance companies!!! :clap2:

In any case, I was pretty impressed with her meeting me today and both of us tomorrow at her home just to help us get along with our "journey" since my insurance is making some minor changes on March 1st. I don't think my Dr. will be covered after 3/1 :faint:so she is helping us try to get this going as soon as we can.

Now we just need to get my PC Dr. to write the letter and send over the TSH results so we can get a date set.

Any info on the testing or speeding up the rest of our pre-journey would be helpful and greatly appreciated!!

We are looking forward to being a Jan or Feb bandster!!!

First off congrats to you and your husband on your journey!! For me, the psych evaluation was just myself and the psychologist talking about my expectations, my past experiences, and ways to change my eating behaviors after the surgery. She then typed a formal evaluation and sent it to the doctor with a copy to me, basically sayig she felt I was a good candidate for surgery.

I've read other peoples experiences saying that had to take a written yes or no question test. I guess it really depends, but its nothing to be nervous or concerned about. It's just another step in the process; just focus on the finish line!!

Wishing you success!! :clap2:

The test I took was the MMPI. Here's a wikipedia link:

Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

They basically did this to rule out any psych issues that will interfere with WLS, like schizophrenia, bipolar, eating disorders, personality disorders etc. There was also another test that was shorter and more specific to eating habits but I can't remember what it was called. A few days after I took them, I had my meeting with the psychiatrist to discuss the results.

These might not be the same tests you take. These ones were pretty long, as I recall. HTH.

Thanks for the info and "support".

We went today and I did have the MMPI test. I will go and have the results tomorrow evening.

We ended up with 3 visits. She actually told me that it costs her $60 to give this test, so since most people with insurance have a co-pay of $20, she makes 3 visits out of it to cover the cost!!! :) I couldn't believe that she admitted it :rolleyes

She is in her 70's and looks like she is 55 yrs old!! She looks and moves amazingly for her age! She did alot of talking about herself :P

I guess she has had so many years of hearing all about everyone else, that she needed to let some out:bounce:.

My psych evaluation was a joke basically. It took all of about five minutes, in which he asked me about depression. I told him I had taken zoloft for post partum depression that I later figured out was actually post partum exhaustion. And that was the extent of the visit. Weird.

Glad everything is moving in the right direction for you and your DH!! Good luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
