anonemouse 1 Posted January 5, 2008 I've apparently managed to pick up ringworm. My dad forgot to warn me that a cat at his clinic was still contagious until AFTER I'd handled her for several days without being super-careful about washing my hands afterwards. Now I've got a nice, itchy, scaly red patch on my side. Yay for me. :speechles
travelgirl 3 Posted January 5, 2008 That sucks. At least it's not someplace that's not as easily treated, like your scalp. Yuck.
anonemouse 1 Posted January 5, 2008 That sucks. At least it's not someplace that's not as easily treated, like your scalp. Yuck.True, that's the good part. I'm going to use vinegar on it for a few days, to see if that'll clear it up, and then switch to an anti-fungal cream if it doesn't work. But this week just keeps getting better and better, between finding out that I've got to search for a new job and this.

Cota129 0 Posted January 6, 2008 What else works is cleaning it with hydrogen perioxide and then follow with a 10% bleach solution. Works everytime

taw1975 0 Posted January 6, 2008 My son battled lovely ringworm for almost a year in his hair. We had 3 bald spots and nothing worked. No anti-fungal topical solution, not even an oral prescription. Then a friend recommended TEA TREE OIL. You can buy it even at Walmart but you have to get the pure oil. It stinks to high heaven but works like a champ! My son's ringworms were gone in less than a week and have yet to reappear.
nina874 48 Posted January 6, 2008 Yup you really are having a crappy week! Have you expressed your delight to your father yet?! I know that it isnt very pretty , but I think that they are as a rule easy to get rid of. Keep your chin up hon it can only get better!
Totallytater 1 Posted January 6, 2008 At least it is not on your face. In college I went to a party and snuggled up to a cute white kitten. Then I got ringworm on my face. There was a nice big ring around my chin.
Luvbnanurse 1 Posted January 6, 2008 My daughter had one on her face as a child an she has a scar from it, when she tans it doesnt and she has a white patch right on her cheek and of course there is a freckle right in the middle of the spot, so bad as it is it could have been worse. Look at your weight loss, that is something to make you smile, you go girl!
anonemouse 1 Posted January 6, 2008 Thanks, guys! I started using vinegar on it yesterday morning and it already looks a lot better. I'm hoping that it'll disappear in a couple of days.
skmsu 0 Posted January 6, 2008 Thanks, guys! I started using vinegar on it yesterday morning and it already looks a lot better. I'm hoping that it'll disappear in a couple of days. Vinegar sounds too whimpy, what you need is a big heapin' helpin' of ketoconazole! Just kidding, I hope it clears up fast!
