Thanks for taking a look at my post. I had my surgery about 16 months ago and since then have not lost a lot of weight. I have had problems with the band feeling too tight, even when it was not filled. I was basically on liquids for the first 3-4 months or so, with occasional attempts at solids. Not very successful.

I was not really losing weight, so I went back to my doctor, Dr. Ortiz. They gave me a small fill. I don't remember what it was. After that, the problem got even worse. The funny thing is, when the weather is warm, I seem to be able to eat more. Since it has gotten cold though, even some liquids don't want to go down.

I would really like to be a lapband success story. Have any of you had weather-related tightening of the band? Right now I have no fill at all and even with that, it is hard to eat and sometimes hard to drink. When I can eat/drink, I tend to go for Chili and frosties from Wendys.

Have you tried drinking something warm before you eat - when the doc filled you was it a blind fill or under floru (sp)?? Have you discussed this problem with your doctor.

Frosties ??? are these shakes??? Chili is a good choice but ice cream isn't.

What is your daily menu - how many calories are you eating are you exercising.

As you know the band purpose is to control your portion and not allow you to over eat - You control what you eat and the band helps you to feel full faster. But to be sucessful you need to make healthy food choice low fat sugar free 60 grms Protein 64 oz Water & exercise...

IMHO you need to do 2 things - call your doc and explain your problem and review what you are eating -

Good Luck

Hi

You have to remember that whatever you put in your mouth you have to count the calories - so if you're still consuming high calories even though they are in liquid form (as in a Wendy's) you won't lose weight. Aslo, the liquids don't make you feel full. Try restricting your liquids and eating foods that will take longer to go through your stomach ie chicken and fish and vegies and don't drink 10mins before you eat and 30mins after you've eaten. Hope this works.

Lesley

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
