Craving a Baked Potato

Recommended Posts

hi

had one last night....with butter.

i usually eat Protein first, then veggies, then a carb if i ever have room (i usually dont)

when i have a potato craving....i eat it. a small one is all i can fit. it really does help to avoid me from "obsessing" over it.

one thing i read on here when i was first banded...a girl who lost over 100 lbs said she doesnt "diet" anymore. and she doesnt eat low cal anything.

she eats less of everything so she doesnt feel deprived.

i started to follow her philosophy and it is working.

mind you some things i do like low fat (like low fat milk) but if i dont like it...i use the regular

I agree-------I am not one of the really young bandsters---and I adopted the attitude, that this is for the rest of my life, and I want to live today like I want to live the rest of that life. I am not one who is willing to do without for the next year in order to get it all done....I do not want to give up my todays for a possible tomorrow.....besides that, giving things up that I want makes me a major grouch!!!

I'm only 6 weeks out and I've had small servings of potatos. I often eat Lean Cuisines for lunch and some of them have potatoes. I've had mashed and small red potatoes steamed.

Just watch how big it is and how much you put on top.

enjoy!

Oh and I also started to walk more and drinking Water and I weighted and I have lost 20 pounds since surgery which was Nov 16th!! I am fixing to start my period and I am having the chocolate craving, any ideas on what you think I can have or would be the best with low cal?

Again I do not belive in depriving myself. I eat those little Hersheys Stixs . I think each one has 60 calories. But I ONLY EAT ONE ! Ya cant have the whole box ! LOL thats the trick ! SO if I feel like chocholate that's what i eat.

They have dark chocolate one's if you like dark chocolate , it would be a bit healthier for ya.

I have potatoes every once in a while.. I'm not low-carbing.

I have found red potatoes are lower in calorie though and IMO taste better. That rarely happens! It's good if you boil or nuke it, and add butter, garlic salt, and sour cream.. MmMM

My friend Jayme, who is lapbanded, has lost over 100 pounds and she eats baked potatoes all the time. When me and my husband go to her house she has the best recipe.. She shreds grilled chicken into Cream of mushroom Soup, and spreads it over a baked potatoe and mooshes it all together. She gets her Protein in just as well and the chicken isn't dry.. it's one of the yummiest things I've ever had. Of course, since I'm not banded yet, I could eat an entire plate and she just had a tiny portion on a small plate, but she still eats them at least twice a week and has lost lots of weight! :eyebrows:

GO FOR THE POTATO!!! A small potato with some yummy high Protein cheese, non fat sour cream and a dab of salsa. Yummy! When it comes down to it, it's calories in/calories out. Don't eat the potato WITH your 4 oz of chicken. Eat it instead. Keep the calories down. I refuse to give up chocolate and have eaten since 3 weeks post-op. I eat chocolate chips right out of the bag. It's a great snack and you end up eating way less than an actual candy bar (15 chips is satisfying) ~ Pick what you like and go for it. You don't have to give up the foods you like! (except for shucked oysters on the half shell. damn it.) ---- Good Luck and go make yourself a potato!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
