famouslastwords 0 Posted January 4, 2008 I am going to see my PCP on Monday to discuss the Lapband further and start my journey to get one, what types of questions should I have prepared for him? Thanks guys.
juliegeraci 7 Posted January 4, 2008 I would just tell your doctor which weight loss programs you have done and that you are sick of being fat. The success rate with lapband is 60% of your excess weight. It is far less complicated the bipass. I hope he/she approves for you. I love my band.
LapBandit 5 Posted January 4, 2008 If you believe your doctor won't know about the band or won't be very willing to encourage this then reassure him that you've done your research and you understand that the lap-band will require a lot of will power on your part but that you feel this is in your best interest and you are willing to put in the effort to make it work. If he gives you a hard time after explaining that then I'd see if your insurance will let you just go ahead and talk to a Bariatric Clinic directly. (I didn't go through my doctor...I called the Bariatric Center on my own and my insurance was OK with that. But, they're all different.)
famouslastwords 0 Posted January 5, 2008 Lap - My insurance says I have to have the 6month supervised diet from my PCP, but I've been on Weight Watchers since I was 15, my doctor knows this, but I have no medical records of going to WW.
