SHAZ 0 Posted February 14, 2005 I know where the band is and how it is there, but can anyone tell me how the port is attached. It seems to be such a drawn out healing process. What is it stitched to? Just wondering...
QWINNER 0 Posted February 14, 2005 The port is a funky thing. My doctor put mine close to the surface and i can actually feel it. It is attached to a muscle in your abdomin with stitches. the reason it hurts so much is because the port needs to be put in with a larger incision than the other incisions. The port is pretty big. Have you seen one? I hadn't seen one until my post op office visit and I was amazed at the size. I said Ni wonder that is the most painful incision. Then there is a tube attached to the port which attaches to the band which is how the doctor fills it. I find it to be the strangest part of the lap band concept but it obviously works. I was banded on 1/12 and have lost 20lbs. I hope to get used to the port soon. Good luck.
SHAZ 0 Posted February 16, 2005 Thanks Qwinner. I'm happy to report that my port is finally feeling as if it has almost totally healed. Only a little pain now. Mine is also easy to feel and yes, it does feel very large(smile). However, I'm happy to have it!!!
