How is the Port attached?

Recommended Posts

I know where the band is and how it is there, but can anyone tell me how the port is attached. It seems to be such a drawn out healing process. What is it stitched to? Just wondering...

The port is a funky thing. My doctor put mine close to the surface and i can actually feel it. It is attached to a muscle in your abdomin with stitches. the reason it hurts so much is because the port needs to be put in with a larger incision than the other incisions. The port is pretty big. Have you seen one? I hadn't seen one until my post op office visit and I was amazed at the size. I said Ni wonder that is the most painful incision. Then there is a tube attached to the port which attaches to the band which is how the doctor fills it. I find it to be the strangest part of the lap band concept but it obviously works. I was banded on 1/12 and have lost 20lbs. I hope to get used to the port soon.

Good luck.

Thanks Qwinner. I'm happy to report that my port is finally feeling as if it has almost totally healed. Only a little pain now. Mine is also easy to feel and yes, it does feel very large(smile). However, I'm happy to have it!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
