There's much talk of how WLS can have a negative affect on relationships... please share some of the ways that being banded has helped your relationship with your significant other. :D

The Sex is awesome! Not that it was'nt before but it is much more frequent!!!

My husband was freaked the first few times after I had lost 60lbs ..he said it felt so different being able to feel my hip bones, my ribs etc...he said he felt like he was cheating on me but now IT"S ALL GOOD!!!! He's gotten over thatreal quick.

We also spend more one on one time together out in public..I did not like ot go out much before one on one..

When you feel better about yourself - physically and mentally, it gives you an extra boost of confidence. You're happier w/yourself. You have more energy, take more care in how you dress, buy pretty lingerie. It's a win-win situation for you and your spouse!

For Valentine's Day, we got new bicycles. Prebanding, I wouldn't have been interested in even looking at bikes. I did get a dozen roses. But no chocolates here!

He's always been my best friend, but now we do more things than just decide what restaurant we're going to try out next. In October, we rented a beautiful, romantic cabin in the Colorado mountains w/a fireplace and inside hot tub. Definitely a second honeymoon!

Happy Valentine's Day

I have noticed lately that I see my DH looking at me more, and asking me to go places more. (of course that might be because I didn't enjoy going many places before)

I find him buying me presents more often, and for no reason which makes them even more special.

He compliments me more often, and tells me how good I am looking.

He holds out his arm for me to take all the time now when we are walking.

And the sex..................well, that goes without saying.

The smile he gives me when I catch him looking...............PRICELESS!

Isn't it funny how loving ourselves more can translate into a more loving relationship. I am still struggling to see myself the way my husband sees me... I hope it sinks in soon because he has been so patient with me. Going through these changes with a new marriage has been challenging for both me and my husband as were still in the stages of adjusting to the life changes of being newlyweds... I think that removing obesity from that list will be a good thing indeed. :D

We go out more together in public

He now gives me a kiss when he gets home from work.

I bought some short nighties this weekend and he Loved them.

He told me Sat for my Valentine's Present we are driving down to Juarez, Mexico so I can pick out a pair of Gold earrings.

There are so many postives that I am amazed how the band has helped us come closer together as a family.

I totally agree with all the above - the biggest thing for me, is how proud my husband is of me! He has always been very loving and supportive of me but today, his valentine card said "I learn a new thing from you every day, and am in awe of all you have achieved". I have gone back to school studying psychology which I NEVER would even have dreamt of doing before gaining the confidence, losing weight with the band brings!

Yay - I love my band - and my hubby!!!

The band literally saved my marriage. <o =""></o>

<o =""></o>Before my husband got banded, we were heading right towards a divorce. Before the band, all intimacy had left our relationship. I’m not just talking about sex, but the emotional and spiritual connection that are key components of a healthy and loving relationship. He had gained nearly 200 pounds in the first year we were married, and that was too much for our relationship to handle. He had brought in a whole second big person…. We had ceased to be husband and wife, and instead became roommates who had little interaction. He had even stopped sleeping in bed with me. Part of the reason for this was that at 600 pounds he couldn’t breathe lying down, and would sleep sitting propped up on the sofa.<o =""> </o>

Well, Mike is currently sitting at minus 180 pounds, which puts him back at 420 pounds. He is once again the romantic man that courted me and won my heart, despite my shallowness at not wanting to date someone that freaking big. Once again, he is emotionally available to me. <o =""></o>

When I go home to visit, we are now constantly going and doing! Movies! Shopping at HomeDepot! Other fun activitied too...<o =""></o>

<o =""></o>It is amazing how a relationship can grow when you aren’t waiting for the other person to drop dead…<o =""></o>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
