A little assistance please (this might be kinda gross, sorry!)

Recommended Posts

Okay, so heres the deal. I started working out about 6 days ago, its great, I feel great, however -

All the sudden, my port is sore, and I am feeling this mild burning sensation around the area that I assume the band is in.

I dont know (and i know this is kinda gross) if I just need to get on the treadmill and fart it out, or if its somehting more serious, like a slip. I have also read about the posibility that from the exercise there could be some discomfort. So needless to say, I am a little worried, I have a Dr appointment on the 11th, but I dont know if I should call and try to reschedule it for sooner, or what.

So as of today, I'm going to start liquids for 3 days, just in case.

Does anyone have any experience?

Don't know when you were banded, which would make a difference, but I'm assuming it was at least several months ago. Whenever I do any lifting my port gets tender. It makes sense: it's a foreign object that is stitched into your abdomen, so any exercise of the abdomenal muscles would probably move it around a bit and cause tenderness in the area.

I would doubt if it's anything too serious that wouldn't wait until the 11th, unless the pain becomes severe. You might want to discuss with your doctor what kind of exercises you are doing to see if there is something else you could do that would irritate the area less, and lay off any strenuous abdominal exercises until then.

Bleh.

Okay, since about 7 this morning, I have been asleep, with momentary spots of being awake to feel intense stomach cramps. I also have a fever, and uhm, I'm peeing from my butt, there I said it!

I havent eaten anything all day, so i decided to have some Soup, and I am starting to feel better. I got a little liquid tylenol down, does this sound like a stomach flu?

Sounds as though it is some sort of virus. Do you have body aches? Head ache? Congestion? Is there any blood involved?

If it does not resolve within the next 24 hours, I would be in touch with the Dr. Not necessarily your band doc but your PCP. It is important that you continue to try to sip Clear Liquids, dehydration is only going to make matters worse. You might even try something like childrens Pedialite, or gatorade.

When my kids would get the intestinal infections and have bad diarrhea they always were put on nothing but clear liquid for a full 24 hours, then if it was easing they would go back on a BRAT diet....Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and Toast (dry).

Hope you feel better!

Kat

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
