I am new to this and not really sure how to use it. I was banded on Monday, 12/31/07. My doctor was Dr. Nazari in Greenville, NC My top weight was 239. Today I weighed 226. I am on the Protein Shakes and are already tired of them. Any suggestions out there on what to do?

Hi! I was banded on 12/6 and I know how boring the first few weeks can be. I assume you are what my Dr. calls the full liquid stage. I drank Protein shakes (found Syntha-6 to be the tastiest), but also had Soups (I had good luck with organic Soups from Safeway, as they didn't require any straining, so they were very convenient. There was Broccoli, Corn, Carrot and Squash). I could have yogurt,so I had yogurt and yogurt smoothies. I also had pudding. Not being a fan of chocolate, I found lots of new flavors in the sugar free instant pudding category -

white chocolate, cheesecake, etc. I also like the sugar free carmel puddings from Hunt's. As always, follow whatever your surgeon and nutritionist recommend - every program can be different. Congrats on making this step and my best to you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
