asumiel 0 Posted January 4, 2008 Good evening! I am pre-band. Hoping to have surgery sometime in February. My doctor has told me that he performs fills through x-ray. Is this considered an outpatient procedure? I have Anthem BC/BS and outpatient procedures have a $100 co-pay. Is the about the normal cost of a fill? :help:
wombat712 2 Posted January 4, 2008 That would be a great price for a fill. The cheapest I've seen is $150 all the way up to $500. Some docs want $1000 up front for three fills etc. Mine are included in the original cost for the first year so I haven't paid for any yet, but I've been researching for when my "free" year is up. wnt2lose 0 Posted January 4, 2008 Even though my surgery was covered by insurance, my fills are not. It will cost me roughly $300 for every fill. (Using flouroscope etc) It is frustrating because in order to make the band work you need the fills, you'd think if the insurance cos. were paying for the surgery they would pay for the maintenence so it does work. Right now I am struggling a little. I know I need a fill, was banded Nov. 5th. Starting to get really hungry, but I won't be able to get it until Feb. due to saving money, etc. I will be getting an incentive check on Feb. 8th! I am just glad I have lost what I have without the fill. Hopefully January goes by quickly!!!
coltonwade 27 Posted January 4, 2008 My fills are free for the first yr. however I do have to pay the hospitals fee of $125 for the flouro . So the first yr my fills cost me $125 . HTH Mindy
Wheetsin 714 Posted January 4, 2008 Mine are covered by insurance but I believe my surgeon's OOP price is $150. That's a blind fill (not under fluoro). They haven't had much luck getting fluoro fills covered by insurance (it's deemed not necesary), so OOP on a fluoro fill is about $800.

Is the about the normal cost of a fill? :help: I also have anthem bc/bs and I believe my max out of pocket for the year is $5000, with the surgery I should have no problem getting to that number, so I don't know if fills will cost after reaching the max out of pocket. I would love to know the answer to that as well. penny

Wishes4444 2 Posted January 8, 2008 My ins won't cover it either!!!! So I pay 250.00 and the Doc still has the nerve to charge me a co-pay of 40.00 on top of that! So 290.00 per fill for me. I have only had one so far and don't expect to get another one for a long time!

Chris61 0 Posted January 9, 2008 Our doctor charges $ 500.00 and the Hosp. charges 1,000. The once insurance is done they pay the Hosp. almost 100.00 and the verdict is still out with the doctor. We have only had 2 fills. The insurance company is going back and forth on procedure codes and billing. Hope to have an answer soon. Chris
MissMom24 2 Posted January 9, 2008 WOW! I was self pay, the first 3 months fills are free, after that it is only $15.00. Yep, $15.00! I don't think I could afford some of those higher prices. Yikes! In case anyone is interested, I was banded by Dr. Kirshenbaum in Denver. Brandy
swstacey1977 0 Posted January 10, 2008 my follow up visits are free but my fills are 48.00. no other fees. only problem is that my surgeon is an hour away from where i live.
InTheCityGirl 0 Posted January 15, 2008 I go back to my doc for fills under floro (sp?) for $100 plus travel expenses to his office near the border of CA and MX. I researched fillcenterusa.com and they have packages for about 1300 for the year that includes 8 visits, 4 fills and a consult. It does not however cover floro, which I don't know how much extra it would run. Insurance is such a nightmare. BC/BS wouldn't cover the fills for me so back to MX I go:-))) Who would have thunk it? destiny79 0 Posted January 15, 2008 My first 2 fills are free UHC paid for surgery but my job switched insurance company to Aetna and they want pay so I will be paying $150.00 and that's with flouroscope it was straight to the point and I can see my port and pouch on the little T.V thing , I figure the money I will be saving on food it will pay for it self. brattyone808 0 Posted March 23, 2008 Hello all, I am scheduled for surgery March 31st, 08 and boy am I excited :biggrin2:, the place where I'm having surgery done is located in Oakbrook, Il. I'll insert a link for more info , it's called Synchrony Health and they are offering free fills for life and from what I can see this is a big deal and lot's of money saved  so I'm not sure if anyone in the area might be interested but here's the link, they do have centers throughout the U.S. so maybe they may have 1 located near you, my sister had her band done somewhere else and they are willing to do her fills for 94.00, so I know it would be well worth checking into to Synchrony Health :: Home as I said I hope this is beneficial to someone and good luck to Us all !!!!!!!!
