THIS IS UNOFFICIAL, but...

According to my home scale which I don't know how it compares to the doctor's scale, I now weigh 336 lbs. which means I've lost 14 lbs. (4% reduction)!

Tada!

Well, I had potato Soup tonight and had more than 2 oz. My wife got mad at me and said that I'm ruining this weight loss surgery. Yes, I had more than 2 oz. Maybe it was 6 oz. or 8 oz., but I don't think I've wrecked my surgery. I will be successful.

Well, the weight is flying off of my body. One week after my surgery and since I started dieting December 27th, I have unofficially lost 25 lbs. Yesterday, I took my dog for a walk from my house to my sister-in-law's house a few blocks away. I plan to walk the dog more often, so by the time I see my doc on the 15th, I might be down another 10 to 15 lbs.

Maybe I'm losing too quickly, but I feel fine. Today, I go back to work. This will be a challenge.

Okay, a new UNofficial weight. My home scale says I weigh 320. Officially, at the doctor's office with shoes and blue jeans on, I weighed 323.

I'd rather take the one I did at home in my shorts. :-)

Okay, as of yesterday, I'm now down to 315. At this rate, I should be down to 300 by the end of this month.

Well, I weighed this morning, January 20, 2008, and now I'm unofficially 310 lbs. This means that I'm no longer morbidly obese. Now I'm just obese!

I'm not doing anything special except I'm not eating very much, I'm drinking lots of Water, and I try to stay active. At least more active than I've been in the past. It is getting a little easier.

I'm not too concerned about my next mini goal, but I know the third one might be a bit more difficult. After February, I'll return to "normal" eating and that might be my downfall. I don't mean to sound negative. I'm just trying to be honest with myself and by doing that, I hope to avoid failure.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
