Liz,

I was pretty tired after surgery too. Don't push yourself to much.

You do need to get that Protein in 50-60 g plus.

I don't eat 1000 calories/day and I am 3 weeks out.

It takes some getting into the groove of the proper timing before and after your meals - that is according to your doctor.

Yikes! ham - a bit too soon. From your post it appears you are on full liquids and some soft food. I started real food at 3 weeks.

Hope things get better for you. Take care of your new band.

C.N.

You need more protein - my doc says 60 grms daily. you are on mushie stage - do you have Protein powder (unflavored) you can add this to instant mash potatoes made with skim milk only to boost the protien - or refried Beans - get the fat free and add a tad of cheese to it... LEAVE THE HAM ALONE !!!! IT'S NOT A MUSHIE.... Follow your doc's eating plan - at mushie stage I had mashed tatoes - refried Beans - dover sole baked and mushed up real good - zuchinne cooked to death - creamed spinance - yogurt with Protein Powder, shakes with protein powder - eggbeaters (just as good as eggs & half the calories) make an omlette add cheese. creamed Soups - oatmeal (weight control it has less sugar)

Drink your Water too - 64 oz.. - go to the food section and look up mushie stage for more ideas..

Good Luck

Everyone has said exactly what I was thinking! The only thing I want to add is that I'm almost three months post-op and when I gained 2 # at Thanksgiving, I started doing my food log again (like I did for my nutritionist for six months prior to surgery.)

What I discovered is that I'm taking in 600-750 calories a day (and that includes 2 Protein shakes @ 100 calories each)--so by all means, don't put much store in that "1000 calories".

Like everyone else said, it's MUCH MORE IMPORTANT that you get in all the Protein you need (and NOT from meat/ham, girlfriend!)--get yourself some whey Protein isolate powder and drink, drink, drink!:biggrin1:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
