I Need A Chicago Doctor

Recommended Posts

Hello guys,

I'm not too happy with my current doctor, he is not a big supporter of the band, he is more into RNY...

Plus, he is very far from me now...

I haven't had a fill for a while due to esophagus dilation... but I must get back on track...

I will pay for my own fills... I'm looking for a doctor that could give me my fills and a doctor that is supportive of the band and his band patients , encouraging, and helpful and/or with a helpful band oriented staff.

I live in Chicago, I could go to the suburbs as well..

Thank you so muchhelp.gif

Hi Kim,

I am also being banded by Dr Cahill next month. A friend of mine from work was banded by him about 5 months ago. She had nothing but good things to say about him and his staff.

When is your surgery date? Or have you already been banded?

Hi Kim,

As a doctor I trust him 150%, I just didn't get enough support for the band, since the beginning, he leaned towards RNY and I just don't feel like he really likes the band, but this is just my opinion... his staff is nice...but they couldn't help me with the fills any longer...:girl_hug:

Hi there,

As a doctor I trust him 150%, I just didn't get enough support for the band, since the beginning, he leaned towards RNY since day one and I just don't feel like he really likes the band that much, but this is just my opinion... his staff is nice...but they couldn't help me with the fills any longer, I was banded 2 years ago... got esophagus dilation about a year ago and then the new insurance doesn't cover the fills and well, it hasn't been a good year for me, but again, as a doctor, I think he is excellent...

BTW, my middle name stands for Marie!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
