boogitas 0 Posted January 3, 2008 Hi Everyone, I am new here. I have just began thinking about lap band. I am going to the meeting next week. I have done alot of research and called my insurance company to get their criteria. My husband is very supportive, he just wants me to do my homework. My BMI is 38 but I have high blood pressure and PCOS (I don't know if they care about the pcos). It makes losing weight difficult. I could reallly use a little help. :)Thats why I am here:))
goodtimes 0 Posted January 3, 2008 welcome boogitas, you've come to the right place. You have made the decision to do what is needed on the path to better health. I actually started my process this month last year and had surgery june 2007. It will be different for everyone so keep doing your homework. Make sure you get to know your surgeon, nurses; i mean befriend them like nobody's business. you just want to ease your mind as well as your dh. Good luck to ya!! ThinDolphin3 3 Posted January 3, 2008 Hey I just started the process of going to a seminar. Mine is scheduled for Jan 12th in Topeka, KS. I have done all the research I possibly can and still learning more off of this site everyday. DH is very supportive too, he's just worried that I'm not gonna get enough nutrients and I've assured him I've thought that out and I'm gonna make sure to stay on liquid Vitamins etc and eat correctly. I do correctly now to a point, I also have PCOS and insulin resistance and one slice of cheesecake away from diabetes. So I'm right with ya girl that I dont think the insurance counts PCOS women not able to lose weight a factor in their decision, but I have heard it helps a little. I have also spoken to my insurance company and they told me that they dont require anything, it's the doctor's that require the seminar and psych eval and all the other hoops ya gotta go through to get this surgery. Spoke to the doc's nurse and she said that if I get the packet mailed in and the psych eval done after I attend a seminar and depending on my insurance I should get the surgery in 3- 4 months..so I'm crossing my fingers.... Welcome to LBT and I'm sorry for rambling on like I have. blessings
girlie 0 Posted January 3, 2008 Hi everyone, I am new here and am proceeding with the process for approval from my health insurance. I am at BMI 34 and typically the minimum is 35. I have been told that Anthem (ins) has approved BMI at 34...........I don't think the doctor would encourage pursuing if he didn't feel it would be approved. (?) Anyone have any related experieonce? thank youG
