I HATE the side fat! I worry that it will still be here at 135!

lol, so do I. I really hate it! I'm hoping that the fat will start disappearing from that area as I continue to lose.

i would suggest going to index.html

i work there, also at the store, its a plus sized clothing store

they can fit you for a bra while your inside  and the bras are not expensive! the most expensive bra we have is $35

however, underwire bras used to bother me (i'm a 42DD), but now, i prefer to wear them. i think you have to buy a really good underwire bra, and try wearing it for awhile, and see how it feels.

plus, i was told, that underwire bras tend to lift and support way more than non-underwire bras.

After many years of trying new bras, makes and styles, I found Wacol. What a great bra. They are expensive, but on Ebay, they are affordable. Best fit I've ever had. I have a drawer full of every imaginable size. After surgery, I should be able to find some that fit. Will wait to splurge on new, sexy ones when I've lost a bunch.

Thanks for the reply. I checked out the site but there's not a store near me. The closest was in Dothan, Alabama and I just can't drive that far.

It looks like there are a lot of really good bras there, but I can't buy one without trying it on anymore. That was my problem in the past, I didn't want to deal with returning it, so I just wore it anyway. Thanks again.

Lane bryant bras are awesome, I would consider a trip down there. They will measure you and everything. I know the torpedo syndrom with bras that dont have padding, but generally if you can find a shaped cup, its alot better.

I'm going for a fill next Wednesday and there is a mall there, so I will definitely go to lane bryant. Thanks

Georgia girl,

Since you have a Belks in your town, I would suggest you go there during the day when the older gals are working. Have one of them measure you. (make sure she is a bra specialist and knows what she's doing) That is the only way to truly get the right size. You can buy one from her then shop around for the best deals on the others. Oprah had a show one time about how we all tend to choose the wrong bra size, so it is important to be measured, especially since you have lost weight.

I'm going to Lane Bryant on Wednesday and if I'm not mistaken, they will fit me for one there. I really do need to be sized. I wore the new one from Walmart with under-wire all day today, and it did really good. It is surprisingly comfortable.

I tried the bali bra on yesterday. It didn't really fit differently from my avenue bras. So I had an epiphany. I shortened the straps on my existing bra and it lifts them up now.

Also, I found these jeans at Walmart called Lee Ultra Fit Collection-Instantly Slims You. I think they work because they made me look skinnier than the jeans that I walked in with (plus they were a size 20 and my old size was 24/26-yipee). I didn't want to buy new jeans till I hit a size 16 but for 20 bucks I have a pair that fits and supposedly makes me look skinnier.

Georgia- where are you in GA? I live in Huntsville, and we have an Avenue here.

I am wearing a bra today that I have come to love. It's from Lane Bryant.. it is underwire, and last I saw they had a lot of colors to choose from. But it's a normal bra.. with 2 hooks on each strap. And you can 'convert' it into a sportsbra is the theory.. but really, I hook the straps together, and it pulls my boobs even happier into the air, and keeps the straps from ever falling off or bothering me. Makes the bra fit perfect for me.

I live in Moultrie. When I used the store locator on the website, it said the closest one to Moultrie in is Dothan Alabama.

I went to Lane Bryant today after my fill. I tried on some bras, but honestly, they were not much better than the one I got at Walmart. Since the ones at Walmart are less expensive, I'll just go back and get a few more there. I did end up buying some clothes at Lane Bryant though. They had a huge sale going on.

*sigh* I wish I could buy clothes at Lane Bryant. They seem to primarily run on the principle that wider always equals taller or bigger all over, though. Even at my heaviest, I had a very hard time finding clothes that looked halfway decent on me there. Even their petites were generally too long.

WAAAYYYY off topic, but Moultrie caught my eye. My first serious romance was a guy from Moultrie. Ok, done threadjacking...:)

I like Wal-Mart for bras also. My favorite was from there, but right now I can't remember the brand, I'll have to check. I'm like you, not a fan of underwires, but the right ones make a difference.

I am a 42DD too, and for underwire bras, nothing beats Maidenform.

However, since I have been banded just 10 days, I was told by my doctor that I had to go with no underwire. I don't wear them, so, I went to KMart, and got really good support, non underwire, inexpensive bras, $7.99. Really, $7.99. Did I mention good support? They fit well and look great with a sweater. I was really surprised.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
