Healthy Band-Friendly Snacks?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

So, I realize that with the band, you're supposed to eat 3 meals a day and not snack between meals. Well, if I were good at that kinda thing, it's possible I might not have needed the band in the first place. =) I'm sure I'm not alone, and I'm sure many of you have found healthy Snacks that you can eat between meals and be just fine.

So, what do you guys snack on? Fess up!

Yes, I'm a snacker, and not always a healthy one either. The last ones are not the best bandster choices... Peeled, cut-up fruits~raw vegetable w/ or w/out dips~tuna salad w/couple crackers~frosted shredded wheat mini squares (also good Fiber source)~cheese cubes~no sugar-added chocolate pudding~weight watchers chocolate cake w/icing~2 or 3 peanut/butter crackers

I use the frosted mini wheats as a snack too. I also like to stir some lowfat Peanut Butter up with raisins and slowly eat that....I figure it the raisins will help keep me moving and the peanut butter is protein..and mixing it together keeps me from eating too much of either.

I just discovered string cheese....I like pulling it apart!! extra Calcium there but I won't go too crazy eating lots of it.

I also like tuna or egg salad made with lite mayo, I use low fat wheat thins as chips and the salad as my 'dip'.....actually, I have that more as a meal than a snack...but you could do either.

When I'm well restricted, I really don't snack. That's the miracle of the band. ;) But at other times I'll definitely need a little something at about 3:00 in the afternoon. My whole office is on the low-carb bandwagon, so there are always nuts around. It just takes a few to take the edge off.

Recently I've been having serious carb cravings, which I've been indulging because I need the fiber. A trail mix with dried fruit is a staple now. And there's always cheese with a cup of tea. The other day I bought a box of Wheat Thins and actually put away about 2/3 of the box!! So I'm staying away from crackers--they're dangerous.

I agree! Ive had good restriction lately and havent felt the need to snack. When I DO feel like snacking, its usually b/c Im actually hungry.

Im gonna keep the not-so healthy ones under my hat!

Gee Paula, I generally keep these in the cupboard or freezer... That would be all I needed -- get trail mix with raisins stuck in my hair!

Reading your postings on snacking is a real testament to how much the band helps regulate eating. I mean...think about snacking before the band, and now after the band. I bet it has changed a lot! I like the suggestions you gave. Especially nuts, which I love!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
