rgjujitsu 0 Posted January 24, 2008 Can anyone help me out here? Will I be able to wrestle and take punches to the body after surgery(of course after recovery time)
Mrs SmartyPants 0 Posted January 24, 2008 I would ask your surgeon - however, I think after 6 weeks, provided you're feeling up to it, you are usually "cleared" to resume activities. I don't know that I'd be taking straight jabs to the port site, but I guess that means you'll have to increase your blocking ability :frown:
Kung Fu Bob 0 Posted May 5, 2008 I too have the same question. Will I still be able to do the intense workouts and what about sparring? Please let us know what you find out.
globetrotter 0 Posted May 5, 2008 I do krav maga - I stoped for 6 weeks after surgury, and when I came back my ab muscles were very weak, but got better. I have adjusted my defensive stance to really protect my port side, because I am a little paranoid about getting hit in the port, but so far no problems (6 months after surgury). krav includes both boxing like elements and ground work, and so I have also wrestled - I found having somebody stradle my torso was painful, but not overly so: it was more a matter of being scared that the port would be damaged or flip, which didn't happen. Cerrin 3 Posted May 6, 2008 I would tell your Doctor and get the info from him. He may be able to advise you better then us. And if you have not had your surgery yet. he may be able to place your port with those activites in mind.
