Well, December is officially over. I had my surgery yesterday and I'm feeling a little like the vice president shot me with a shotgun. Though since we all went thru this recently. We could all chant "Owwwwww".

Oh, I was just reading another thread of yours! You did go through with it then.

Um yeah ... days 2 and 3 weren't pretty around here. Day 4 I started to feel a little bit human. Day 5 I started itching to get out of the house. Thankfully I'm now over 2 weeks out and feel mostly back to normal. I still have a bit of soreness where my port is, but it's just minor soreness. :)

As others have said, hang in there. I had some residual shoulder pain from the surgery gas, but as others have said it all goes away soon enough. A week after surgery I was back at work feeling basically normal, and two weeks out I wasn't sore at all. The worst part for me was getting in and out of bed -- I really felt those stomach muscles then -- but I'm a month out now and sleep on my stomach regularly now. Time is a great healer.

I too had pain after surgery. My most severe pain was my shoulder and my wrist (student doctor did IV which pissed me off since I went to a private clinic and not a teaching hospital). Unlike many of the posts I was not back to normal after 3 days. I had to go back to work on day 6 and was still taking paid med and was very groggy. My husband drove me to work but could not next day so had to stop pain meds.

I am now 4 weeks post op and am really starting to feel good. Still a little soreness or discomfort at times. May be I'm a woos but I think I was not really ready for work for 2 weeks.

I have slept ton's since my surger and am only getting back to my normal hectic pace now. I also took advantage of the extra attention and have let my family spoil me for the last month. All in all very worth it.

Hang in there Justin! You'll get through this. I'm now 18 days out and am feeling much better. By day 10/11 I was back up and ready to get moving at a more normal pace. I went to work at day 14 and every day has been much better than the last.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
