Welcome, Karey! Please do join in and come back often! I'm glad you saw some value in the Protein info I shared. About the casein protein...

Bodybuilding.com - Optimum 100% Casein Protein - Slow Protein Digestion! On sale now!

That is what I use. I have to say that my sleep is markedly improved after incorporating this, as well. I have been a chronic insomniac all my life, so this is huge for me.

I see that your goal loss is similar to mine. Do you mind if I ask what BMI your goal will land you at? I'm so envious of your TT & BL date! Those are the two things I am thinking more and more about...possibly augmentation versus a lift, but nonetheless I'm having a hard time convincing hubby. We will see how that goes. How did you decide on a surgeon? Did you find a large cost variance among the different docs?

LOL I guess I have a lot of questions! Tell me to mind my own business if it's too much!

Woman did you miss the thread I started? Guess that's what I get for lurking on the December exercise thread instead of doing actual exercise and posting lol.

I gots me 30 minutes of snow shoveling in thus far on the happy new year. I don't suppose the bowling later will count either so I better get off my bum and work it out.

Oh, I didn't know you made one! And after WHOS and I were posting in the November thread until something like the tenth of December when DiBaby clunked us over the head, I figured I better put a link to it when I made this one! LOL So sorry, girlie! I was gonna delete this one, but I saw that you just linked yours to here. I'll check first next time!

Hey, snow shoveling DEFINITELY counts as exercise!

Did 120 crunches today. Also did a 30 minute workout at home on biceps and triceps. Looks like my left tricep is all right after all, which is fantastic news. Was unsuccessful at getting hubby out to run, dag nab it!

Stefanie and fellow exercisers, thank you for letting me join your thread! I think this will help me meet my goal and may be just the push I needed.:help: New Year Resolution:

LOSE THE LAST 20 POUNDS! 20 lbs and counting. :car:That will put me at a BMI of 24. Today I exercised on the elliptical for 30 minutes and went snowshoeing for an hour (awesome workout). I am holding my calories at 1250-1300, I will report back. I use the body bugg, so I know exactly how many calories I'm burning. I aim for 2450, with a 1000 calories deficit. I may try for a larger deficit and a higher metabolic rate. If my knee can hold out, I'm really going to push it!

How did I choose a plastic surgeon? I made 3 appointments. One was the PS my band doctor recommended, one was the PS my OB/gyn recommended and one was a friend who was thrilled with her results. All three doctors had a little different take on what I needed to do, but 2 of them were very similar. I compared the two who were similar and made my choice. I went with the doc who my ob/gyn recommended. She raved about his work on some of her patients. I liked his pictures, mannerisms (he didn't talk down to me), the time he spent explaining things, the pain control methods, etc. He was about $1,000 more than the other two, but he is also going to do a mons lift and Lipo. He also does the surgery at a surgerical center and insisted I stay overnight. The third guy has his own surgery suite (which I know is common) and would pay a nurse to stay overnight with me. I felt uncomfortable with that because his office is far away from the hospital and I like the accountabilty of other doctors and nurses being around at a place like a surgical center. The third doctor said I would be in surgery about 8 hours. That seemed like a long time. He was younger and I wondered if it had enough experience. The doctor I choose said it would be about 5 hours. I felt that he wasn't too old (probably around 50) and had a lot of experience and was probably at the top of his game and not yet getting behind the times. He is also the president of the state association and licensing board. The first doctor would have done my arms at the same time as the TT and Breast lift, which would have been nice. The other 2 doctors said no way would they do the arms at the same time, it would be too much for me. They said, how would you get yourself up? You can't put any weight on your arms and it will hurt to use your stomach muscles. That made me eliminate doctor #1. Well, I probably gave you way too much info, sorry about that. To have the TT, BL and lipo the flanks will be 12,500 (which includes overnight stay, pain pump and compression garment). Good luck to everyone in 2008. May be all reach our goals.

Stefanie: I just ordered the casein protien powder. My doctor told me to start taking protien right before bed, that it would help with night hot flashes, which she said I probably low blood sugar. I've been having a lot of insomnia. Hopefully this will work for me too!

my goal for 2008--

get to my goal weight! :]

its going to take some hard work, i have about 75 lbs left to go..

I started my diet today, and I also have hired a personal trainer.

I had to have a complete unfill due to my band being too tight, so I gained about 5 lbs over t-giving and christmas, which sucks! I'm going to work twice as hard to get down to my goal weight!

I would like to start a weight challenge, would anyone be interested??

maybe January to Spring Break (March 15th ish?)

This is so much just what I need to stay on track. I have been so bad the last 3 months with exercising and making good choices. October was harvest, November is 2 birthdays and Thanksgiving, and December is 3 birthdays, Christmas and New Years.

My goal for the Year is to reach my Goal~~I will lose the 60# to reach goal!!!

I do not belong to a gym but walk lots, have a gazelle, and like to do things outside as much as possible.

Welcome everybody! Love to see all the faces here!

WHOS, gotta ask...what the heck do you do that keeps you so on the move?!?!? (Hey, I made a rhyme! Yes, I'm a major nerd! :)) I just love Baltimore, but in warmer months...love Inner Harbor, the aquarium, all the restaurants and shopping!

Karey...I hope the casein helps you as it has me. With more and more studies, casein is showing to have real long-term benefits over other types of Proteins, though whey is still the best assimilated for immediate post-workout...bar none. I think it's good to use a combination throughout the day to glean the most benefit from all.

Good luck to all on your goals! Let's be tough and keep each other accountable! My 2008 goal is to reduce my body fat to 20% or less (first and foremost), start crosstraining with running, keep up my cycling and weight training.

Punkey...I would be interested in a weight/exercise challenge. How do you want to set it up?

Thanks for starting the thread Stefanie, I'm totally psyched for 2008. My goal is to lose another 42lbs by June. Not sure if I can pull that one out of my ass or not, but we'll see. Haven't been to the gym in a week, so I gotta get my but back there as well. I just hate the gym in January, all the newbies screw up the parking, and 90% of them never make it past February. I'm gonna start going a little later though, around 8pm. When I go at that time, I just take a quick shower and pass out. I think it really helps my sleeping.

Oh and Stefanie, what flavor of the Protein powder would you recommend? I'm thinking of making a purchase as well....

JM...

I haven't tried the vanilla...not a vanilla fan. The chocolate and banana are pretty awesome if you are going for the casein link I put up. For whey Protein, I use EAS Premium Protein in chocolate for 27g of protein, which I double in the mornings. I get that at costco.

Yeah, I'm super-psyched about the new year, too! If we are talking weight goals, I have lose another 39 pounds. I would love to see a size 10 or even an 8 would be amazing!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
