banded 12/26. The gas pain is intolerable, even with walking - from 2am til 5am this morning did not help. I am fust starting now to release a minor part of the gas. Question, I see everyone recommends GasX and I've been taling the strips and chewables. how much should i take per day? It has 4 pills or 8 strils but it's not working!! Thanks

Keep taking the Gas-X but no more than the recommended amount. I was banded on 11/1 and the gas pains were unbearable for me for 9 days. Then one day they were simply gone! Hang in there. They should disappear any day now. I had my kids pat me on the back to help me burp. Hey, I did it for them when they were babies! Also, walk around a lot, even in the house. Sometimes, I would sit on the floor and rock side to side to loosen the gas. It helped. You'll feel better soon.

I completely agree with Kacee!!! I was banded on the 26th and haven't had to use one gasx strip. My heating pad has become my best friend. I use it whenever I have the chance and I believe it's probably the reason why I haven't had gas pains.

Good Luck!!

Jenn

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
