I am booked to have Lap Band surgery in six weeks time. I have been looking for a forum to get some feedback. I have some real reservations about whether I am doing the right thing or not - did anyone else experience reservations before they had their surgery. Its on my mind everyday, am I doing the right thing, will I be able to cope I am just not sure if I am ready for this yet.

Well if you have done all the research and all the hoops that you have to go through to get this surgery. Then it must be the right thing for you to do. I believe you are just anxious and 6 wks is a long time to think. LOL But believe in yourself and know that YOU CAN DO THIS....you chose this path for a reason and I know in the end you'll be glad you did it!! I'm pre-band but I have those thoughts everyday and I just keep reminding myself that I know this is the only way for me to go.

Good luck and welcome to LBT!!

blessings to you

Thanks ThinDolphin3 - I am sure you are right - I gather from a lot of the threads I have read that I probably have the same concerns as everyone else. I think its just reassuring when you hear it from someone who has been through it and perhaps felt the same as I am feeling now before their op.

Can anyone tell me how they coped with going out to lunches with friends? Did they find this hard, did they give up going out. I am a bit of a social butterfly. I don't think it will stop me from going out, but just wondering how others get on?

Heather, Welcome to LBT...

I skipped going out for meals until I was back on solid foods. Now, I just order an appetizer off the menu and have no problem finding good things to eat. I went around to many local places and got thier menu's so i knew what they had before gong in and worrying about it. Good luck, the waiting game has begun....

Thanks Dave o1 - you are doing well, congratulations. Would you say it was the best decision you made and did you have any reservations before having it.

Heather, Thanks. It is by far the best decision I have made. I have no regrets since being banded, other than not getting it done sooner.

Right up until the day of my surgery, I was not sure if I could go thru with it, but am glad I did. I did'nt find this site till after being banded, so any questions I had went unanswered, unless my dr answered them. She was awesome by the way.

Thanks for the re-assurance Dave. I will continue to read. I am really pleased I found this site, mind you only yesterday on New Years Day - a good start to 2008 I think.

oh and how much exercise do you do? I have a crook knee (which needs a replacement and one of the reasons I need to get some weight off - along with the many others) My knee limits me on what I can do.

I walk 5-6 times per week for an average of 4-5 miles each day. Then I spend 45-60 minutes in the gym doing resistance training ( curls, lats, leg press. etc. www.bodyforlife has great tips and a good workout plan

I try to get 30 minutes each night on the exercise bike while watching tv, but sometimes miss this part. I had surgery on my knee 4 years ago due to torn miniscus and bone damage, so it does hurt at times.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
