It looks like you are ahead of the *ahem* curve! I think your excersice level is great right now. Having never been to a Curves, I don't know if you are doing weight training and cardio, or just cardio. Perhaps you don't need to add any more but perhaps add duration? (I'm not a fitness expert... I suppose if I was, then I wouldn't need a band!!! ;))

It sounds right on to me - exactly what my doc wants me to do and what I am working on (just joined curves this week!)

Curves is great...I am glad you are getting in 4 days a week, that's just great! You are getting a good balance of strength training and cardio, and walking on your days off is perfect! One thing I learned from Curves, is to do all your work on the machines and have THAT work get your heart rate up, then march on the recovery pads and use them for what they are designed to do, and that is to allow your muscles to recover. Some of the ladies there were doing aerobic moves on the recovery pads to get their heart rates up to a good cardio level, and there was not enough energy left to REALLY work their muscles on the machines. Which is why it's so important to do just cardio on your days off. What you are doing is excellent!

As far as exercise after the band, I have heard take a month off of exercise, but see what the bandsters say, and your doctor. I love a good ole step aerobics class...great cardio, which I need. I have good muscle tone under all the fat, but the cardio is the real fat burner. Good muscles help your body burn the fat more efficiently, particularly at "rest" or during non-exercise times.

If your are able to maintain your current pace after the band (with the appropriate time off directly after surgery per you doctor) I think you will really see results! And Vinesqueen is right, increase your duration both at Curves and on the treadmill. you can go around the circuit an extra time, and add a 1/2 mile to your treadmill.

Well done! You are a good exerciser!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
