Famous People with the Lapband

Recommended Posts

I watched the same show yesterday also, but I have to admit it was a little discouraging to me that in 18 months she had only lost 50 lbs. But then I think, a 50 lb loss is better than gaining. I just wonder how true to her restriction is she? Am I a bad person for thinking this?

Who is Ann Wilson, I am sorry I do not know who this is?

Carnie Wilson had bypass. She was just on the Oprah show about transfer addictions, she became an alcoholic after her bypass surgery apparently.

I've heard there have been some MMA fighters who have been banded. That fascinates me because they work out so hard I wonder how they can get all the Protein they need in order to compete at such a high physical level. I wish I knew which fighters they were as I'm curious as to what weight class they are.

You really are mature aren't you?

Instead of publicising your low mental age, why not be constructive? But you can't do that can you. It's too much effort.

GTH.

Wow, what a thread of responses:-)))

I'm not much of a celeb watcher but they do get quite a bit of exposure to the media so I guess I was hoping to read more of their stories to get add'tl insight.

I totally agree about the 50 pounds for Ann Wilson though. It was a little disappointing. But the stories she told were so intense of her yo-yo'ing all the way back to early teen years. It always seems that someone who has the weight issues that young suffers terribly trying to get it under control for the rest of their lives.

I also agree that we wouldn't know if many celebs were doing it because there is still stigma attached to some of this stuff. Like Ricki Lake is down to a size 4 and claims it is eating right and exercising but you have to wonder. Someone who suffered so much trying to lose 75-100 lbs for 20 years all of sudden pulls it off and maintains makes me wonder.

Heck, I haven't announced my journey to anyone outside my DH yet either. And I can count the number of people I know who would care on my fingers and toes:-))))

I think a lot of celebs have the band and don't go public with it. If there is a person who is really overweight their entire lives and all the sudden they are skinny, chances are its a lap band or gastric bypass.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
