coolcrystal 1 Posted December 31, 2007 So, I'm sure many have posted this, but now it's my turn. Today is my last and final step in the whole lap band/insurance procedure. The dreaded Psych Evaluation. It's in the same office as my lap band doctor and so was the dietician, who, btw, was an obese lady. I don't think I've ever seen an obese dietician before. She had been lapbanded and was down to like 215 now, but I thought most dieticians were average weight, so it made me feel a lot better in that session. She wasn't looking at me like I was some food crazed maniac. LOL. Anyway, my friend came to this office to take her two psych tests and she said it will ask you in about 10 different ways if you are suicidal, but I'm not. I know this is how they find out if you've got issues, but I'm happy in my life, I just hate my big fat ass that knocks soda's over on people's desks and can barely fit into movie seats. Other than that, I have a gorgeous wonderful husband, kick ass supportive friends, and a great family and I'm happy and actually, I still think I'm pretty. I'm just so scared he's going to try to get me to say there is something wrong when their isn't. I read where one girl said that because there was nothing wrong, her psychologist made her come back because he felt she was hiding something... Like, "holy shit, an obese person that actually loves herself and is happy"... is that possible?? YES! I'm just physically uncomfortable... Anyway, so, my appointment is in an hour..... I guess I'll know soon. Maybe I do have an issue.. after re-reading this I sound like I suffer from severe paranoia. LOL
meggie02162 0 Posted December 31, 2007 That's funny!! LOL I don't think people get denied for paranoia though....My psych was all nice to my face, knew how important it was for me to get this and then took his sweet time sending in his report, 3 weeks after he promised it would be sent, I called and he left me some message saying "He's sorry, but now he's sending it". My dietician was like 4'9 and 80 pounds and I made a comment as her not being able to relate to what I go through, and he wrote that down and made it this big deal...I was like geez...but Insurance still approved me on first submission Yay
wombat712 2 Posted December 31, 2007 My doc didn't do a psych eval. At least not officially. I met with him and we talked about my expectations of the band but he didn't delve into my family, history, or nothing. My family is all messed up and dysfunctional (not DH and my kids just all the other crazies I call family)- glad he didn't ask!!
coolcrystal 1 Posted December 31, 2007 It's finally over. The doc was actually really cool, but I had to take two tests. One was computerized and the other was filling in circles. Over 700 questions I had to answer. Many were repeated several times. But, I'm just glad it's OVER... now comes the approval process...
