HELP!! Does my band need to be tightened??

Recommended Posts

I keep PBing and am hungry quite often...my first thought would be that my band needs to be loosened, BUT I think perhaps it needs to be tightened. Then the food would stay in place, not be able to get stuck as easily, and I would feel full a lot longer??? Am I totally wrong for thinking that may be the case???

Please help!

Thanks so much,

Jamie :help:

I had something recently that sounds the same. I was PBing all the time and always starving. For me it was because it was hard to get in enough solid Protein, thus the unfil. If you can eat 2-3 oz at a time then you are good. Anything more than that, you need a fill.

You need to really rethink as you eat. Sounds like you may be taking too big a bite, or not chewing enough. I have great restriction, but if I don't really watch myself I PB a lot because I tend to forget and take a big bite, or gulp. When I really really slow down and chew chew chew and think when I eat I don't normally have that problem. So it's not just the tightness of the band, it is also how you are navigating the eating process.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
