35 lbs from goal - my journey

Recommended Posts

I have lost 65 lbs since being banded and 40 preop for a total of 105 lbs. I weight 220 today at Weight Watchers. My goal is 185. I started weight watchers because my band was too tight and I had a hard time eating solids. Recently I had .5 ccs taken out and now I am starving! I am hoping that with WW I can lose the rest of my weight. My surgeon is very happy with my decision to join. Julie

I wish you the best. I'm wondering why the doc didn't just take out .25, you don't want to be hungry all the time. You paid a lot of money for your tool and your doc should work with you so that it works for you. That being said, I think that Weight Watchers is a good program. Keep us posted!

Aren't we lucky that this band is adjustable. Good luck in finding just the right fill for you to take off the last 35.....

I just wanted to encourage myself & those that have posted on this thread.

I have lost a total of 59 pounds and it had made a tremendous difference. I went from a size 22 to a "thin looking" 14

Since March 5 2007 *TO GOD be the GLORY** :scared:

I weighed myself last Friday and was very disappointed in what the scale said 215!!!

I could believe it, I just knew it would read 210 or less, but no it didnt. I thought about my goal weight and I said hey I'm only 35 pounds from it and YES I will make it to 180......

I decided to cut out the sugary Snacks and chips and ice cream and I'm going to haul ass starting today!!!!

I just hope when I get to 180 I will be happy with that..???

I want you guys to know you are not alone!!

Have a Happy A Safe New Year please pm me anytime

WW will work Julie, everytime I've thought I needed another fill, a recommitment to being more vigilant with my diet has done the trick. I'm a good maintenance eater but a terrible dieter, lol. And you'll probably find that you wont need to be as tight to maintain as you do to lose. My band has loosened off considerably - to the point where I can now eat a whole sandwich again - buy my weight has remained steady. The old rules stand true - healthy food and exercise is all it really takes.

Hi Paulax, I've been stuck at the same weight for a while now. Part of the problem is that I've been eating around the band. When I don't get enough in, I drink with meals. So now I am just trying to get back on track. Wow, these last 35 are quite difficult!

I am now 30 lbs from goal and 10 lbs from plastic surgery. I joined Weight Watchers again and am doing pretty well. I met with the plastic surgeon on Tuesday and she said I could have surgery 20 lbs from goal. That puts me at 10 lbs from PS!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
