My blender SUCKS

Recommended Posts

Did anyone have to buy a new blender for the liquid stage? If so, can you recommend something that'll pulverize the crap outta the fruit & ice I make into smoothies? Thanks!

PS - I can't spend like, $100 on a blender....

I didn't go crazy expense wise myself for this stage - I got at Target the Hamilton Beach Personal Blender w/Travel Lid $16.99. Worked great & I still use it.

AHH! I understand! I am broke and can never afford anything fancy!! I however got what's called a "Shake and Take" for Christmas which is a small blender (which works VERY well) and the cannister that everything blends in, doubles as a travel bottle! It makes things SOOOO Easy for me, and now there is no excuse to eat junk because I'm "in a hurry" or "too busy". My mom said it was $20 at a store like Walmart... heres the link to buy it!

The travel blenders look nice, but I do not think they'll blend the frozen fruit I use. I am looking for more motor strength than the one I have now. I saw something akin to a magic bullet selling for $19.99, so maybe I'll get that. The blade just kind of freaks me out, because it's right there after you take off each cup --- does it freak you out at all, ggirl? Thanks to everyone!

At first it did a little, but now that I know how to use it, it's all good. What is the name of the blender that is similar to the magic bullet and where do you get it? I was thinking of getting one for my sister (she's getting married) but if there is one that is similar and cost less, I'd rather get that one.

It is from Bella Cucina -- hang on, I'll get you a link, I just saw it on Macy*s website... I'm sure they ship if there isn't one near ya.

Here it is... hopes this helps:

Wow, if I were you, I would order now. It seems to be very similar to the magic bullet. That's a great deal! Thanks for the info.

I was just crabbing about my blender last night! Is the bullet as great as they advertise? I have a hamilton beach and HATE it. Never blends the ice up very well. Grrrr.

In my experience, the stuff they tote on TV is usually crappy, or a crappier form of something good (like they have that new ped-egg commerical out, but I have the real foot thing, from Microplane -- though I have not used the ped-egg). I am still researching some blenders online, deciding whether to go to Macy*s or Bed & Bath... This is the one I really want, but the cheapest I can find it is like $85:

Yes, the magic bullet is wonderful, it works so much better than any other blender I've ever owned. I just ordered the Bella Cucina from Macy's for my sister. It seems very similar to the MB and it's on sale for $19.99. I'm all about saving money and this is a great deal.

Read the reviews. Seems like a lot of people have had issues with some rubber rings breaking or sliding down and jamming the blades. Enough un-happy reviews that I am going to check out somehting else. Thanks for the link!

Eek, I just saw that! I wonder what kind of plastics are used in these things... you should only use things that are food grade plastic, like polycarbonate...

GG, I'm sorry if I've led you astray!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
