I am miserable overfill? Please Help!!!!!

Recommended Posts

I had my third fill A week ago today. I felt ok ...though I kept to liquids almost 4 days. I have gradually tried soft foods beginning Monday but felt such uncomfortable feeling in my chest . The hiccups began and then I gagged a few times . Not alot came up infact almost nothing but I really have not eaten anything anyway. I guess Tuesday I felt I really better make sure I have a Protein Drink, some gatorade or something because I felt I could be heading for dehydration. Wednesday I felt awful just soooo uncomfortable and nauseas. I gagged four times during the day. My stomach is killing me from the muscles I guess and my throat from throwing up nothing.

Today I was in bed the entire day and gagged in the morning on a few bites of vanilla ice cream. I don't know if I'm over filled or sick with a stomach virus. I did not feel this awful the first few days and was able to drink during the day all day to keep hydrated. Now I've got the perpetual slime in my mouth , headache and nausea. I know you guys are not docs but what do you who have experience think? I could go into NY tomorrow to the doctors to get an unfill- although I have not called them yet. It would be a bit of an issue to get in and I'd have to make my husband take me -I feel that bad right now. I don't want to set myself back and have to start all over with getting back to a good restriction. Does this sound like a classic overfill to you? If it was would'nt I have not been able to get anything down right away? this began a few days after. DO you think stomach virus? Should I take some sort of medicine? Thanks.....

Certainly not an expert, but a stomach virus might also give you major stomach cramps, diarrhea, and/or possible fever. I've never heard of it giving you sliming or hiccups. That sounds like you might be too tight. I had a fill that was too much, just removing 0.2cc made all the difference in the world. Take care and don't get caught over the weekend w/o care available. Most ERs are not familiar w/the lapband. Please let us know what you decide to do. Hope you get better.

I think it is always better to err on the side of caution, than to go for a long time coping with pain, discomfort, etc. Please see the doctor and tell him your symptoms. Hey-the worst that could happen is that they will take a little out of your band, or they will tell you that you have the flu. Either way...tell your Dr. what is going on and I hope you feel much better soon!

You might be a little to tight Kelly Ann but you really need to talk to your Dr. For his opinion and again it just might be a stomach virus but keep up with the Water you do not want to get dehydrated. Like Marie says don't get caught over the weekend without care available. Taking a . cc out makes all the differance.

Take care and let us know how you are doing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
