I am so excited

Recommended Posts

for this year. I am thrilled that the journey to a healthy me is about to begin. I spent YEARS dealing with this weight drama and sadly, i wasted so many years thinking I was fat when I was not. Hindsight is always 20/20 - if I knew then what I knew now I would have made some better choices. Being that as it may, I feel like I havea fresh start. My kids are getting older with the younges going on 2 this spring and my oldest going to pre-k this coming fall. All you moms out there understand how much you sacrifice for the sake of the family yet we dont pump as much effort into ourselves and our wellbeing. I feel as this is my time to focus on me. Before the kiddos came I was very hard on myself. Being older and having kids gave me an opportunity to appreciate what my body is capable of and I now approach my well being with kindness, forgiveness and purpose. This is going to be a year of positive change for all of us who are getting banded in January and I wish the very best to all of you sharing this journey.

I think it almost gets to the point where there is only one direction to go and that is forward. Forward to something better. That is what I keep tellingn myself, anyway!

Of course you can do it! I keep reminding myself that I will never, in my life, have to diet AGAIN. I can change my lifestyle and eat better with the help of the band. I feel loads better knowing that when I wear down and have a bad day I wont stumble off the giant hill I had already climbed!

Hi All,

I am also going in for surgery tomorrow (Jan 2)! I am very excited and hope everything goes smoothly (pray my liver is small enough!)... I am nervous but it is an excited nevous knowing this will be the start of a great year of health and smaller clothes!! I wrote my weight loss goals last night and when i get down to my goal weight (around 70kgs) I am going straight out to buy a pair of Sass & Bide Jeans... sounds silly but that and my approaching wedding in March 09 is going to keep me focused on my goals!

Good luck to you all, i look forward to hearing how it all went!

Hey all -

Surgery was yesterday and all went well. I got to the surgery center at 6 a.m. and was back at my house at 10:30 a.m. Is that crazy or what? I spent most of the day just laying around (actually reclining) they don't want you to lay down because of the gas. I didn't take any medicine until 6 p.m. and only took it then so I could rest for the night. The surgery was soooooo much easier than I thought it would be. I have the green light to drive after noon today so I am planning on running a few errands.

My incisions are glued shut and look awesome! I do feel gas pains, mostly in my shoulders - but they are not too unbearable!

Hope all Jan. 2 surgeries are doing as well as I am.

Wow racetrackweary,You are incredible. I haven't been banded yet but I don't think I will be ready to go off running errands the next day. I always get very groggy from the aneasthetics when ever I have had surgery. Mind you I hope I do feel like that. Take it easy. I hope every thing goes really well for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
