how do you know if you have stretched the pouch

Recommended Posts

I am concerned I may have ruined everything over the holidays. I don't know? Weight is not coming off and I don't seem to stay full the 4 hours after a meal. I am not scheduled for a fill until March. Any one with some ideas?:)

Just giving you a bump! I'd like an answer to this as well. I'm not so worried about the Holidays as I am the fact that I had been drinking carbonated beverages.< /p>

I too am worried. I know I have eaten too much over the past few weeks. I haven't gained anything but I have felt miserably full several times and I have had a few sodas also. I thought we were supposed to vomit if we ate too much but I am on my 3rd fill and have not vomited or PBd once since surgery.....not that I want to vomit but it might keep me in check better. I'm scared too but I am scheduled for a fill on the 2nd so I'm going to ask them to do an xray and check it out.

Only the Doctor can tell you if you have stretched your pouch with fluorscope - I don't know what the the symotoms are for stretched pouch - Wasabubblebutt might know...

You may need a fill - I pb when I eat too fast and don't chew well not cuz i am too full.

Those who are drinking sodas - why??? Didn't your Doc's say not to... know most doc's do 'Why did you get banded if you are going to follow the rules" You have to stop yourself from over eating. It's hard but the band is only a tool - they banded your tummy not your head and that's where most of our problems lie... The band is not not going to help with head hunger and our other food issues - if you want the band to work - then you gotta follow the rules.

You aren't going to lose weight if you have eaten extra calories that your body can't burn - as to not staying full for 4 hours - you may need another fill too - but it will also depend on what you eat as to how long you stay full - If I eat Soup for lunch it doesn't stick with me for 4 hours..

I can't stress enought that if you want the band to work - you gotta work too - imho 75% of the work is up to us (making healthy food choices & exercising) and the band will do the other 25% (make you feel fuller on a smaller amount of food)

Hello Everyone~

I too fell victim to the "fixins" over the holidays. Boo-Hoo! Anyway, I do know that carbonated drinks are definitely a "NO NO". I even asked about ginger ale and was told that eventually it can make my band flip over because carbonation makes your stomach enlarge and causes gas. I had the flu and needed something to settle my stomach.

Why 4 months for your next fill? Curious why that would be...My suggestion .., exercise, exercise - kicks the weightloss in super hyper drive.. Good Luck!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
