Cgailee 1 Posted December 28, 2007 I haven't been really hungry yet. I am just a week post-op and feel pretty good. I'm having trouble getting enough Protein, because I just don't feel hungry. Also, I'm sick of the shakes. I know they are helping but I hate them.
Maddog 0 Posted March 25, 2008 My surgeon only required liquids a few days and then soft foods. But, within a week, I was eating some food. I didn't even know that there were the official food stages until this forum. But, now by band has slipped and I really think it did it in early after my band. I can't help but think that if I'd gone through the official food stages it wouldn't have happened. Once I get my band repaired or replaced, I guarantee that I will follow the weeks of liquids. Very brave and helpful of you to post this for others to see. Who knows if it caused your band to slip, but if we eat right post op, so our band has time to heal in place, we eliminate one possible reason why. I hope the repair/replacement goes well. chica 2 Posted March 25, 2008 My doc actually recommends putting Peanut Butter into your Protein Shake if your hungry (pre- or post-op). It's more filling and it's delicious! But I believe you should avoid eating peanut butter by itself until mushies.
Maddog 0 Posted March 25, 2008 What kind of Protein Shakes do you guys use?
chica 2 Posted March 25, 2008 I use Unjury chocolate plus skim milk and some ice with my Peanut Butter. This is so good, my 8 yo son asks for one after school every day!

jtag10_4 2 Posted March 25, 2008 Per my Dr's instructions Peanut Butter thinned with skim milk was allowed during mushies? liquids? I cannot remember exactly - but it was on my list of appoved foods REALLY early on, it is an excellent source of good fats and protein...check with your doc! Good luck! MamaHerm 0 Posted March 25, 2008 Marla, Your guidelines sound like what my doc's are. Who is your doctor?
Hastings 3 Posted March 25, 2008 I use slim fast low carb shakes. Less exotic, but readily available and not too bad. I mix in a small pack of baby food fruit into a vanilla one (after the Clear Liquids phase) and it helps to vary the taste a lot. Mango with nutmeg tastes very good.
