Burping is this normal

Recommended Posts

I had a question.....I've had one fill since my banding in October and have pretty much no restriction. I know that can be normal and is referred to as bandster's hell sometimes. My question is I burp a lot while eating and for a good hour afterward. Not all the time but quite often. I know on occasion I eat a little too fast or don't chew chew chew like I should but not often. I've never pb'd or what ever you call it and I've never thrown up but I do burp like a guy drinking beer quite often and it's really embarassing at times. Is this normal, has anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if it's just because I don't have any restriction so I can eat quite a bit. I don't eat as much as I used to but I am able to eat more that I would have expected. Any advice?:paranoid

Misjanete-oh yes, at least for me...burping is VERY normal. Sometimes it's just the way the food works it's way through for me at least.

Yes, after my 2nd fill, (which I do have restriction) I burp just like a beer slurping man.!!! How embarassing it is. I am happy to see that I am NOT the only one who experiences this.

P.S. No slime or PB'ing with me either. Just massive burping.

I also have notice that I burp a lot sine I have had the band. In talking with the doctor he says that some people swallow a lot more air than other people do. I also have sleep apena and swallow air a lot because of the breathing machine at night.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
