Any LapBanders from San Diego, CA

Recommended Posts

Wanting to hook up with anyone that has been banded and is living in the San Diego area.

There are only two doctors in this area that will do a fill for anyone banded in Mexico and was wondering if anyone local has used either one. :help:

I did not have mine done in Mexico. But you might try my doctor. George Mueller 858 565 0104. It is worth asking right?

I was banded in Mexico and I am looking to find a "good" fill doctor in San Diego. If the price is reasonable and he/she uses floro, then I may consider going locally rather than traveling to TJ. But, of course, I want a reccomendation from someone who has used the doctor. I don't want some yahoo, that doesn't really know what they're doing.

I will be banded in San Diego on Jan. 15th by Dr. Horgan at UCSD Medical Center. I would assume that he would do fills even if the procedure was done somewhere else. I believe that he said fills were $250 each but I am not absolutely sure about that #.

I was also banded by Dr. Horgan at UCSD, but I believe some, if not all of us, are part of scientific study, ie clinical trials with the robotic procedure. I would not be surprised that they do not fill persons who are not part of their study groups, since they are not a private business.

On the other hand, I believe UCSD is a Medicaid hospital and may have a "community" orientation.

It's worth a phone call.

My surgery was Jan. 30 and I feel pretty good. I wanted a surgeon I could trust to give me the best chance for this to succeed. I liked the ability to have easy, ready, professional follow-up. I liked having a LOT of doctors and staff to work with.

It cost more. I had to pay on my own, but I'm paying for a new life.

Best to you.

I'm getting banded on Tuesday by Dr. Mueller as well. I believe they charge $250 for a fill.

Hey Gus 123...how are you doing post-op? Dr. Mueller and team are so great, huh?

I was banded by Dr. Huacuz in Tiajuana,Mexico by Dr. Huacuz. I actually flew back to get a fill.... He uses fluorscopy.. I only went down there because my fill location here in the States couldn't get me in as soon as I needed. Call them (619)-270-5388.... They're really nice & will pick you up at the border or the San Diego Airport

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
