Christmas Eve the nutritionist let me have 6oz fish and veggies, so I had only one shake that day.

Christmas Day wasn't really hungry, so had a few shakes and veggies.

Yesterday back to work, had a hersheys kiss and a handful of nuts, but had three shakes and broth with veggies. Also ate about 15 green olives as my friend is coming next week and I crave salt. Figured the olives were better than the pretzels I normally eat.

Started off today with a smoothie, 450 calories, half my days allowance, but 67 grams of Protein, 0 fat, 46 carbs. I figure that can hold me until about 3 pm.

Chrisann-Your nutritionist was nice to you!! Mine was really mean and judgmental! Lets just say I won't be going back to her again. I know I am only supposed to have liquids but I saw other peoples and they are able to have low carb so I allowed myself some turkey and veggies on Christmas. Today has been tough though I got on the scale and I haven't lost a pound yet so I called my nurse all worried they won't let me have surgery.....but he said it was fine as long as I was sticking to the diet. I keep pushing on and keeping myself busy because of the end result. :-)

Found out today that Dr. Ren uses the new AP band. Can't find much info on it, but was told that its safer than the old bands and larger in capacity for saline. Its oval too I think.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
