Mushies after a week?

Recommended Posts

My post - op diet put me on mushies or what they called pureed food from 3 days out until 4 weeks out. I would follow the plan that the doctor gives you but if you are allowed mushies there are tons of things you can eat. One of my favorite was veggie refried Beans with a tiny bit of cheese and fat free sour cream melted over it. Another favorite withe cheese was spagetti sauce and ground turkey put through the food processor with parm. cheese on top.

I was banded on 12/19 and am supposed to be on Clear Liquids for 14 days. I knew I wouldn't be able to handle that and sure enough I was right. I added yogurt, pudding, Soup, and cream of wheat on my own. I DO NOT believe in lowering the caloric intake to that extreme. It raises havoc with your metabolism and I can't live that way. I try a little of something new and see how it goes down. That's my suggestion. If a teaspoon of something new doesn't go down well, then don't continue. Good luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
