Forgive yourself for Christmas dinner!

Recommended Posts

OK. It's Dec. 26. Time to forgive ourselves for any culinary indiscretions at Christmas. What was, was. Today is a new day for keeping a few days of a food journal, regifting chocolate, and heading to the gym. Hope you all had a happy one.

Thanks all for sharing. Pre-band, it was during this time of year that I would lose myself. Unfortunately, now I have the band I again feel lost. I'm scared about the weight I've put on during the holidays. I didn't just allow myself one day. I've been messing up for at least a couple of weeks.

Thanks for sharing. I'm contemplating getting a fill, so I can get a grip on reality.

Take care everyone.

I'm not banded yet, but was pretty proud of myself with my Christmas eating. Thanksgiving I was AWFUL and felt sick for two days. But, this time, I didn't get seconds at all. Only had one piece of my mom's homeade bread. I did do bad with the homeade christmas Cookies though. I had about 4. But then I had about 5 small sausage balls for the Breakfast. And a piece of fudge. And two small pieces of peanut brittle. and a piece of pecan pie ... all of this throughout the day of course... EEKK.. ok, I did pretty bad, BUT, considering that I use to eat double this before, this is good for me.

I am really proud of myself. I couldn't eat the Christmas ham. I wasn't on red meat yet. but I did have a teaspoon of all the vegetable dishes. I had half a glass of wine and a teaspoon of buttermilk pie. that's it. From December 21 until this morning, I managed to drop 4 pounds!!!! I was in shock when I returned home and got on the scale. I didn't beleive my sister's scale, but my own scale confirmed it. God I love my band!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
