crystalcml 0 Posted December 26, 2007 Hey there I have a question, my surgeon requires a 10 liquid pre-op diet. I am going to take that one step further and do a 14 day diet and the 4 days prior to all the liquids I want to mix in some protein/meal replacement bars. I was wondering which ones you would recommend? Looking for high Protein, lower carb and sugar that doesn't taste like chalk. Thanks much
Sue Magoo 71 Posted December 26, 2007 Crystal: I like the South Beach Diet Protein bars. Best wishes for your upcoming surgery. Sue
BlooEyez 13 Posted December 26, 2007 The Special K bars are good as well ... 10 grams of Protein in each. My fav is their Double chocolate.< /span> :hungry:
snowbird 2 Posted December 26, 2007 I like the South Beach bars because they don't have a ton of sugar like some of them do. That keeps the hunger pangs down.
Candle 11 Posted December 27, 2007 Pure Protein Bars are good and 20 grams of protein!!! (WalMart) I like the Luna Bars the best but they are only 10 grams. Both under 200 calories.
princesstracey 1 Posted December 27, 2007 Hi Crystal! Congrats on your decision. I am currently on my 14 day liquid diet. I like the South Beach best-they are wonderful! I especially like the caramel Peanut Butter. I drink Protein shakes from Adkins-the vanilla is delicious, but I also like the Mocha. Enjoy!
RUBALCAVA2004 0 Posted December 27, 2007 SO??? WE'RE SUPPOSE TO EAT THREE MEALS AND HAVE 60 GRAMS OF Protein?
kagoscuba 0 Posted December 27, 2007 "SO??? WE'RE SUPPOSE TO EAT THREE MEALS AND HAVE 60 GRAMS OF Protein? " Yep. That's actually fairly easy to do. I get 20 grams from my protein pudding, 47 from my Protein Drink, and an additional 20-30 from tuna. My doctor also allows a protein snack, in addition to the three meals. 100+ grams a day of protein is not uncommon for a lot of us.

juliegeraci 7 Posted December 28, 2007 GNC has great Protein Drinks and shakes.< /p>
crystalcml 0 Posted December 29, 2007 Thanks for all the great feedback. I went to Target tonight and they sell single Protein bars so I bought a luna bar, a south beach bar and a kashi bar. I like that idea that way if I don't like it I am not stuck with a whole box of them.
georgia girl 35 Posted December 29, 2007 I've tried the south beach and the kashi bars, I like both of them. Also, GNC has a good Protein powder. It's called Pro Performance ( I bought the chocolate caramel and mixed it with skim milk). For some reason, it wasn't as lumpy as some of the others I tried. aubrie 6 Posted January 2, 2008 I'm not allowed to eat them. doctor wants me to eat real meat and protiens. He thinks the bars have to many carbs and are potential triggers for PBs and getting stuck.
