Hi there!

Looking to make friends with people in the UK who use Mounjaro for weight loss currently. I am hoping to lose as much weight as possible on the injection, to potentially avoid surgery.

About me:

26 year old female

Started Mounjaro on the 13th of November 2024 at my highest weight- 185kg. I am now 171.3kg (maybe even less tomorrow-Weigh day!).

Happy to be friends/chat/support anyone who uses it! Just want to feel a bit less alone in my journey 😆

Hello Kirsten. My husband is a diabetic and is on Mounjaro. He has lost 3 stone with a little will power and is happy with his progress. You are doing great. You must be thrilled

Hi Summer! Great to see you again. That's brilliant, good for him 🙂 What dose is he on and how long has he been on it?

Thank you ❤️ I am happy indeed, I can't tell I've lost 15.9kg but I'm sure I'll find it in the clothes or something eventually. I've purchased some size 26 clothes to motivate me and try on to see how I'm getting on (currently a size 30). X

Hes on the max dose now he tells me. I am away from him at the moment visiting family so I am unsure of the cc's. Hes been on it since the Novenber, so pretty good. Hes very immobile so its all down to it lessening his appetite.

16 kgs is a lot. 2.5+ stones, I work in old weights. Imagine carrying that weight of potatoes with you now. You might not see it on yourself but next time you go to Asda just look at the potatoes, put them on the scale. Its a lot x

Hi Guys, I'm thinking of going on the Mountjaro - how are you getting on with it ? I'm not sure whether to opt for a gastric sleeve or injections because I'm concerned when the jabs stop, I'll gain weight again. 😣

I think it's definitely worth considering. I was going for the sleeve but thought I'd try this first. Been on it 5 months now and lost 20kg. Being in a deficit has helped me eat healthy and I now understand how bad food is! I plan on still having surgery should I plateau at the end of the journey, but I'm seeing how far I can go. My BMI was actually too high for surgery and I've managed to drop down into a BMI so I can now have surgery if I need to.

Hi there Summer! Hope you've had a lovely Easter yourself :) I'm doing well, 5 months in and I'm down 20kg. Feels slow but I'm getting there! Just another 65kg to go haha 😄 How are you getting on with your loss?

Wow 20 kgs, thats really good. I am so pleased for you that its going so well. Lots of people loose slow when they have had this surgery so don't worry about that. Its the end that matters.

I am maintaining now. Its tougher than I thought and my scared fat brain needs to weigh in every day and monitor what is going in my mouth.

But I love my new life. I am free of the fat and my mobility is through the roof. I no longer have the eyes that watch my every heavy move because I was always the biggest in the room.

Great to hear from you x

Thank you! I'm glad it working and you're right, it's the end goal that matters. 20kg will soon turn to 40kg and so on and so fourth. I think I've dropped a dress size too. I used to wear 30-32 UK and now I'm buying 26-28. Some clothes are tighter than others but that's just clothes for you.

I can imagine going from that mentality to mainteance must be tough but you'll get there. You just need to try and get in the habit of not weighing and such like you used to and then it will become the norm. I'm so glad to hear how far you've come, it sounds amazing! As someone who dreads walking 3 minutes, I can only dream of enjoying a walk! And the eyes that watch you is so true, I've always told people (slim friends and my partner) that people stare at you and make comments because you're so huge. They never believe you, but its very true. I've always been the fattest in the room, have yet to meet someone bigger than me! I know the exist, but it's just how it is.

Well done on changing your life, here's to a bright future with more mobility and experiences (:

We should defo chat more, maybe in DMs or elsewhere if you'd like. Would love to have someone in my life who understands! x

Thank you! I get nauseous sometimes, usually the night of injection but nothing else really! I'm on 10mg atm, most people are scared of the higher doses but for me it was a massive game changer.

My experience:
2.5mg for 4 weeks no supression.
5mg for 4 weeks 1 day out of 7 for suppression.
7.5mg for 12 weeks most days I had supression
10mg week 5 on Wednesday and supression most of the time.

But the supression isn't severe, it's just that I don't have food noise and I don't notice the hunger/cravings now. Went from huge portions to normal portions. chocolate daily to a couple times a week. Takeaway once a week now once a month. Feel free to ask any questions and I'll answer them for you (:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
