4 weeks out, question about amount of food

Recommended Posts

Hi, i am 4 weeks out. of course, no fill yet. I have the new band. i think my surgeon said it can hold 10 to 12 ccs. I have been doing good.

notice that alot of will power is coming into play now. i have lost 15 pounds. but yesterday and today i have noticed that i can eat a cup and a half of food. keeps me full for about 3 hrs. sometimes 4. My question is, Is this normal and did anyone experience this? thanks for the help.

I LOVE MY BAND~~~!!!!!;):r&r:

i too have the new band and am 4 weeks out on the 28th...i just posted on another thread that i can eat way more then i thought....about the same as you.... and i've been told by everyone...even a friend of mine who's banded thats normal!! we arent restricted.... however i must admit i didnt eat as much today as i would have unbanded... i'm a piggy on the holidays usually.... restriction will be welcomed though..today i was able to eat way more then i want to... but i did let myself enjoy the holiday...i took a sectional plate and put about a tablespoon of a several things in each compartment and munched out!! i'm sure i ate at least a cup and a half...so i think its normal...if two of us feel that way...there has to be more!! gl and happy holidays!! :clap2: dont look now..a skinny girl is creeping up behind you....no wait.... thats you : )

What you are feeling is absolutely normal. Remember, right after you got your band, you weren't able to eat as much because your tummy was still swollen from the surgery. It kind of felt like you had restriction. Now, you are healing and the swelling has gone down. It is almost like you don't have a band right now. Remember, the band is meant to work with fills. Until you start getting fills and reach proper restriction, you may not lose any weight, or may even see a small gain. But remember and be patient, once you get restriction, your band will really start working for you and the weight will start coming off.

I too am 4 weeks out. Banded on Nov. 28th. I can eat more than I thought I would. But still not as much as I did before the band. I had my 1st fill Dec. 20th. And that doesn't seem to stop me from eating the same amount without the extra Fluid in the band.

I also have the small band. Before the fill I had 2.6cc in my band, they added 1.4cc to give me an even 4 cc. At this rate I think I'm gonna need the full 10cc before I feel restriction.

I keep reading in here and I know it's going to take a few more fills before I start to feel the restriction. But I do know your frustration.

My surgery was on the 5th of November and my fill was on the 11th of December. I will have another fill on the 10th of January. I can have one cup now, but I sometimes feel like snacking. I have a diet pudding or some Peanut Butter on a spoon, well 3 spoons. I notice that if I have salad as a meal, even if I put cheese on it, I will be hungry after 3 hours.

So,you guys are normal. Don't worry. I am a very slow loser. I have to have patients.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
