Merry Christmas to you too!

I have to admit, I'm glad it's over! Too much family stress and I ate entirely too much crap!

I got a ton of compliments from my boyfriend's family on my weight loss though!!! Most of them I had not seen since before surgery.

I'm finding I'm not a fan of all the attention. I particularly hate this question >> "How did you do it?" It seems most people want to hear that I'm on some new magic diet. My answer to people who don't know about my band is usually "Portion Control and Exercise" They never seem happy with that answer - lol.

I hope everyone had a nice holiday!

Hey all! Glad to hear your holidays went well (or at least they're over). :-)

Mine were good too, although I had a REALLY long car trip from Minneapolis to Peoria and back. We had THICK fog on the way down (7 hour drive became 9) and then hit freezing rain on the way back and had to get a hotel in Iowa. The 3.5 hour trip from IA to MN took 9 hours on Sunday but we're all home and happy to be home!!

I managed to lose 1.5 lbs before the trip and held steady the rest of the week, so I can say I've lost a LITTLE weight, which is good considering how much garbage I ate this weekend! I'm trying hard to resist the 5 kinds of candy, the chips and the apple crisp on the table outside my cubicle. I may have a little fudge, but we'll see...

Thing is, I don't feel bad about it. It's the holidays and I'm going to have some goodies, and I'll get back to it all after the fact. This is a lifetime journey and there are going to be goodies now and then!

How are you all coping with it?

Same here! This is the rest of our lives! We are going to have a goodi now and then. The lesson learned is to just have a little to satisfy the craving and then to let it go, get away from it or get it away from you! I have pushed cake and pie on everyone who has visited and encouraged them to take it with them! I feel good about my choices this holiday. I had a little of eerything I wanted. 1 serving. I didn't feel stuffed. I didn't feel deprived. I got up and worked out. My family didn't focus on the big meal this year. We enjoyed each other's company, played games and watched movies. All and all, this was a great way to spend the holiday. :)

Now we have New Years to get through and we host a big all day brunch! :help: I think I will be O.K.

Take care all!

Merry Christmas everyone! I am kind of glad its over too. My husband's family is tough to take. They all stared at me during dinner. They could not fit another morsel on their plate and mine was just where it needed to be. Two of my lovely sister in laws asked me if I regreted my decision to have the surgery during dinner. I was so mad!! My answer was of course no and I actually gave a small laugh and looked at their plates. They got the hint! I haven't weighed in but I am back on being a VERY good girl!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
