Anyone have a trick to detoxing from carbs. I swear they are like a drug to me and I have a little bit of processed carbs and I crave them for weeks. I will do it somehow but it’s not easy for me. I can do healthy carbs without issues. It the processed ones that I’m addicted to.

This is a tough one. I loved carbs too. Would live off noodles, rice and Pasta. I was so lucky that for 2 years I couldn't fit any in my tiny stomach. It retrained me. Now I am having to watch out. My husband who is thin, loves carbs, so we have them with every meal. I love vegetables so I make sure every meal has at least two portions and I eat them before any carbs. Thats the only way I can manage my intake. I try to make my daily menu with only one portion of carbs too.

I hope you can work it out. You deserve it, you have really done so well. Christmas is hard and seems to last forever.

Yea since I was a revision to SADI they did not operate on my stomach. My portions are the same as they were years out from my sleeve which was about a single serving of most things. The weight I have lost is really just from eating 100% clean and exercising quite a bit. I really don’t worry too much about portions (although I still can’t eat a ton at once). I truly do believe that I am a carb addict though. It’s hard every single time I eat a lot of them to get back off of them. My plan is just to allow myself to have as much fruits and veggies as I want until the cravings ease up and then go back to my normal portions. We Celebrate on Christmas eve and just have Breakfast on Christmas while we watch the parade so I started yesterday and my plan worked, but I still ate a lot of calories because of eating all day long and I still want carbs just as bad today. My body just screams out for them. And for a while too. It’s really almost not worth it.

omg, I effed up these last two days and ate all that is sugar and carbs! My workout today was so freaking hard, waking up was tough, and I feel super tired. So now I know why I don't eat like sh**! it was an eye opener and I have been back at it and feeling already so much better! I was totally fine then started to drink a diet soda here and there and it upkicked my cravings for it. The best advice is DIG REALLY DEEP and remember your why! My why are my kids and husband. I want to be and feel the best possible version I can do be for them. They deserve and heck I deserve it too! I had a nice time and enjoyed all the treats but I know that isnt me anymore and now I am back on track.

Also I would go back to the basics, low carb and high Protein. Chew gum, get flavors for your Water, sugar free popsicles.

I feel the exact same way about when I don’t eat clean. I don’t sleep as well and I feel fatigued all day. It’s weird I didn’t realize how good I was supposed to feel until after this revision and now I know when I eat poorly because I feel like crap.

Oh sugar free popsicles. I forgot about them. I am pretty sure I’ve got some in the freezer. Them will help at night. I wake up at night, several times a night, when I am off the wagon with carbs. That’s when I usually give in just so I can go back to sleep.

also! I have been drinking this healthy hot chocolate. its 4oz of unsweetened almond milk, 1-2tsp of pure maple Syrup, 1 scoop of cocao bliss, 1 tsp of raw cacao powder and 1 tsp of coconut oil. It is DELISH! super clean, and really makes your warm and your belly full.

honestly, you really just have to white-knuckle it if you are looking to adopt a low-carb diet long term.

it takes about 3-4 days, but if you can get through it, it's soooooooooo much easier going forward. the cravings are no longer as intense and its easier to stick to low-carb.

keep in mind though, that if you indulge at any point in time you will likely have to go through another 3-4 days to tame the beast again....which is why as soon as you pass the "no-carb-craving-point" for YOU, then its in your best interest to stay there (i.e, don't eat have high-carb meals, like ever....especially if you have a self-proclaimed addiction to them).

with that said, it takes ALOT of dedication and self control to make it a lifestyle. so really, its not that sustainable for the majority of the human race.

i myself was only able to keep it up for about 2-ish years, and i gave up after i had a piece of Mr.'s homemade bread, lol.

good luck! ❤️

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
