The New Year is Approaching!

Recommended Posts

As Christmas and the New Year are approaching, I wanted to see what your goals for the new year are, mine are to drink more Water and less negative self talk. I have been doing some work on my mental game. Body dysmorphia is and negative self talk is a B!

Drink less alcohol (i drink too much, and it really is getting out of hand)

Do less exercise (i exercise too much and my body is starting to object...feel like i am hurting in some body part or other like 24/7 these days).

Buy less clothes.

Eat more often.

Read more books.

Floss my teeth regularly.

Do what i say i'm going to do.

I completely understand the exercise, my back and knees are super achy like I have been over working them out. So that is actually a good one too!

My guy and I have a big goal for this coming year. It’s going to take a lot of dedication and willingness to get outside in the Pacific Northwest rain. We want to ride a century ride on our bikes this coming summer, that’s a 100 mile ride. No way I will be able to do it unless I train religiously rain or shine.

Kindle unlimited is great if you don’t have it already and don’t mind electronic books. It auto renews so I put it in my calendar as a recurring monthly reminder for a while to make sure I didn’t forget to cancel it if I wasn’t using it (I am the worst with them subscriptions things). I get my moneys worth for sure, though. You also don’t have to buy a special device. You can just download the app on your phone or tablet. I also learned about an app that the library has that you can check out audio books on for free. I thought that was pretty cool too.

That’s an awesome goal. I am rooting for you. Can you train some days on a stationary bike if it’s like lightning at least.

My goal is just to stick with my fitness and nutrition as much as I am able in the midst of my other medical stuff. I actually just left my doctors office today because I didn’t like the plan the nurse had for me that took me off my bariatric diet and I was gaining weight. We came up with a new plan that hopefully will get me back on track for both goals. Well after I detox from all of the carbs anyways. 😩

I don't usually make goals for the new year because I never stick to them. But, this time last year, I was thinking my goal of losing weight was going to fail again, and I've already lost almost 70lbs! So I think I will start making more goals. Mine is to build up my savings account. I'm going to start small with goals since I know now that I am capable of sticking to things that I want badly enough, but I don't want to get overwhelmed.

i know how you feel about never sticking to resolutions. One year my resolution was to quit trying to quit everything just because of feeling a failures so many times. Small goals are far more realistic than huge resolutions and because they are more attainable we can do more than one a year and achieve more in the long run than the huge goal that overwhelms and we give up. I think you will do great!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
