Hello everyone

I've been on the preparation program for 14 month, but the information I got here in the past few days was way more informative, so thank you all.

Now I had my wls on Dec 9, I lost about 7 pounds and seems like I lost my diabetes and hypertension in the process hoooray.

I didn't have any complications with my intake. No pain or nausea or nothing.

My starting wight was 267 and day of surgery was 252 and today I am at 245.5.

I am a female, 54 years young and my hight is 5 7

Attached is an example of my daily intake, witch I would love to hear your thoughts about it.

It is still super early on for you, but it seems like you are doing a great job; both with your Protein intake and your weight loss. We all lose weight at different speeds, but it's about not adding foods in too fast to let your body heal and making sure you are getting all the protein and Vitamins you need to keep your body healthy.

Keep making good choices and enjoy the journey!

Thank you Chatterboxdea for the postive encouragement. I try to follow my instructions as strict as possible but I was worried about the carb intake, I am thinking it's high but I don't know how to fix it.

You have made a fantastic start. Write down all your thoughts in a journal. I found it has really helped me reset later when I mentally went off track. I’m really happy for your recovering overall health!

Hello learn2cook,

Thank you for replying💝. I love the journal idea, reminds me of my young days 😉 when i kept a journal for almost 13 years.

I will start on it right away.

Unless your program has given you an extremely restrictive carb limit, your carb intake is perfectly fine with a reasonable calorie intake for early on and most of your calories coming from Protein. The only thing I would question is if your sugar intake is natural sugar or added sugar. If it's fruit, great. If it's added sugar in your coffee, not so good. You don't seem to be getting more than 3g of fat right now, which you may want to ask your program about just to make sure that's not too low.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply 💝

The Sugar probably from my no added sugar fruit yogurt. I stopped added sugar for 8 month now, about the same time I stopped drinking pop which was one of my biggest problems. I had GERD and i thought pop helping me when in fact it was making it worse "a fact i was told when i was admitted to hospital because of GERD".

I will ask my team about the fat intake .

Oh, yes. I forgot about the natural sugar in dairy. That's fine, too. Natural sources of sugar behave differently in our bodies than added refined sugars.

I know that when I went to my dietician a few months ago, I complained that my hair felt like straw no matter how much conditioner I used and she suggested adding an omega-3 supplement. With no oil or butter in cooking and everything low or non-fat, it's easy to actually not get enough healthy fat in your diet (olive oil, fish, nuts and seeds).

I was wondering about when I can restart taking Omega 3. I have to ask about that.

Since yesterday I am feeling fedup with liqued diet to the point that i am close to new depression episode. This journey need lots of strength

Yes this part is tough, try your best to stick with it, you have done so well. People who havent had this surgery think we have taken the easy option !

Are you allowed to try strained Soups. I could have strained chicken noodle Soup, consomme, beef tea, milk and pho which was like a taste explosion after all that Water. Good luck

Yes thats extra tough if you are cooking for the family. Thats going the extra mile for them. Cooking smell made me barf early on. My husband cooked in a closed kitchen with the windows open for me. Lots of us had weird taste buds and finding something palatable was expensive as I would reject foods after a taste. I still can't bide my once fav food, salmon. Its the keytones. I had the most disgusting taste in my mouth for a few months.

Keep posting on here, We know you are suffering and we will be with you.

This is exactly the problem one bite and i reject the food. Maybe when i go back to work that help with taking my mind off food. I am hoping it will get better or i adapt.

I think your doing great! My program was strict on carb intake which in the beginning I was able to easily adhere to, however veggies, fruit and a bunch of good whole foods have carbs so its okay to eat them. We need them for our energy. Your Protein is amazing! I also cook for my family; hubby and 3 kids. I just adjust. I eat what they eat just cut out the carby. With spaghetti, I just eat the meat sauce and put it on top of spaghetti squash or zoodles, or if I am making hamburgers I just eat the patty. My family is eating better now too, now I get lean ground beef, only eat chicken breast, we do lightly breaded chicken, so that might help with your journey too.

Thank you amber, this is great suggestions for my coning days.

My program now only count Protein. I am still in liquid stage, in 2 more days i move to puree food then 2 more week whole food which is when i will need to make the real adjustment to food choices for my life forward.

Reading this fourm, with many great experiences give me hope but it is for sure not an easy journey, but easy journey got me where i am now

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
