Day two, not loving the shakes for lunch and Breakfast, currently using the "glow" shakes by Collegen co here in Australia they are not too sweet, but not like a whey based one, not really creamy, a bit sort of slimy.. but so far I am coping ok, at least I get to have a good low carb meal at night, tonight a chicken and vegetable stir fry, with cauliflower rice, it was gooood too.

We got this January buddies!!

You're lucky it's only a week long the pre Op! I have 2 weeks, but I have seen some here have had to do 12 weeks of it 😬

I had my surgery yesterday and got to go home the same day. I’m super sore today but not bad pain wise.

That's awesome, well done! Much easier to rest and get sleep at home! 👍

How are you feeling? Able to get your Water and Protein in?

Really sore and it’s definitely a struggle. I can only take sips because if I take a bigger swallow, it hurts my stomach.

Rest up, recover, your poor body has been through a lot!

I am sure you'll be feeling much better soon. 🤗

Hi Kim, welcome! 👋

How long do you have to be on the diet, and what does it require?

I don’t have an idea yet how long. Need to lose 13 pounds and then see the nutritionist, psych etc.

The pre-surgery diet I was given is a 1200 calorie.

60-80 grams PRO

130 grams Carbohydrates

30-45 grams Fat

Breakfast

3 PRO Servings OR 2 PRO plus 1 Yogurt

1 Starch, 1 fruit, and 1 Fat

lunch

Same as above PLUS 2 non-starchy vegetables

dinner

3 PRO

2 Non-Starchy Vegetables

1 Starch, 1 Fruit, and 1 Fat

MAX of 2 Yogurts per day

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
