January 2025 Surgery Buddies!

when you say eggs, Beans, white fish etc, are you having them in puree form ? I am given paperwork that says until 2 months post op , its puree only , no solids. Is your paperwork the same?

I miss sausage rolls, and no I do know that they are made in hell, but I miss savory.

Two months?! No, my diet changes week to week. Second week after surgery, I started full liquids. Third week, pureed foods and things like Soup, yogurt, pudding, applesauce. Later this week I can start with soft foods: eggs, white fish, mashed Beans. The week after, I can try tuna, salmon, chicken, cooked veggies. The week after that, I can try beef and pork.

Every doctor has different post-op directions.

Very true. My biggest obstacle is my own impatience. I want to hurry up and get to real food, being so sick of Protein Shakes. I just started my soft phase, so thankfully I can now have eggs, Beans, white fish, cooked vegetables.

I just keep looking ahead to everything I will be able to do once some more weight comes off. I have also just booked a Mexican Riviera cruise for January 2026 to Celebrate the new me and my new life one year from my surgery. No more "rewarding" myself with unhealthy food choices, and instead I'll be rewarding myself with things that focus on my self-care. Like taking a cruise I'll be going by myself, but it's not the first time. I'm very excited. 😊

Melissa, great idea to have a big reward waiting down the road. That's great motivation to hang in there and persevere! I can relate to impatience and am sure many others do as well. Let's just all keep on keeping on!

No, but if anyone out there has any hints I'd love to hear them as I'm having the same problem 😵💫

I’ve started using a chocolate ufit shake instead of milk in my ready break so I get more Protein in x

It's going great for me. I am down 26 pounds since surgery (probably more now). Feeling great, got loads of energy, A1C has improved, not completely where it needs to be, but closer. Getting my Proteins and hydration in daily. I have always loved the great outdoors, so I have been enjoying getting out and walking when the weather isn't so cold; able to easily walk 2 miles now.

I live in Texas and she lives in Virginia, so I have only been in contact with her through messenger. She seems to be doing good too, but I don't know her stats. I know she is eating solids already. I don't get to move to solids (hopefully) until March 3rd.

Seems like everyone's post-op instructions are different, depending on who your surgeon was.

Finally hit over Protein for first time in 5 weeks. I’ve not lost any weight in over 10 days. I’m eating around 500/600 calories a day in total since 27th January . I’ve lost around 10kgs since surgery should I be worried x

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
