Nice! My date isn't until Jan 30th, but it's going to take that long for me to get everything sorted at work before I can take a couple weeks off.

Where are you having your surgery?

YAS! I'm so excited for the change ❤️

I had my VSG done on Nov. 14th, and I'll be transitioning to diet phase 4 on Jan 1st, 2025! It's my New Year's celebration!

Great to hear! How has it been for you since your surgery?

Yay! Where are you having your surgery? You doing self-pay or through insurance?

I will be having it locally as an outpatient procedure and following up in the office the next day

That's cool you only have to spend one day in the hospital.

It is but it also makes me nervous. They gave me a choice between doing at this hospital outpatient or doing it at the bigger hospital and staying overnight but I would have had to wait until March so I chose outpatient.

I don't think it's done as an outpatient procedure here in Australia, at least I haven't heard of it. But.. everyone I know was up and about walking with in a few hours, so it does seem possible. 🤷‍♂️

I totally get the not wanting to wait till March. Having made the decision it's like.. Yeah bring it on!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
