To be truthful I have seen everyone I can with the insurance coverage I have and just looking for support. I am too tired to justify things to anyone else, even if they are asking with good intentions. I know it’s a rare side effect but it does happen and just like you to many doctors don’t believe it.

hi again, the article you quoted is a good resource to share with your medical team. if you are suffering from the same symptoms outlined in said article is *should* be pretty clear that you will need intervention. now you didn't mention frequent vomiting, but i'm going to assume this is an issue as you referenced the article, yes?

run, do not walk, to your emergency room if your organs are failing. insurance coverage will be a non-issue as organ failure would be classified under emergent care! seriously, we are talking life or death, man.

i get that you are looking for support, but really, what you describe requires PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL support that is waaaaay beyond the scope of these public forums.

please take care.

A good tip would be to have a mix fat and carbs every couple of hours to help you steady your weight so things like dates + tahini or nuts, Avocado milkshakes, full fat chocolate milk and a couple of tbsps. of Peanut Butter, Full fat yogurt with nuts, full fat milk with honey, just generally nothing low carb/low fat. For me personally, Protein fills me up way too quick so maybe try high fat, high carb moderate or lower protein until you stabilize. Sorry you are going through this, please make sure to see your healthcare provider ASAP.

Try to research if you have patient advocates available to you. If you are feeling unwell and can’t advocate for yourself they are there to help you with that. It’s sounds like the people you are seeing are letting you slip through the cracks. It isn’t that people are not believing you, but having a hard time believing the situation because this should not be happening to anyone. Emergency rooms cannot deny you life saving medical care regardless of whether you have any insurance at all. An advocate should be able to do the research, legwork and arguing that you are not feeling up to in order to get you the care you need. Also, what about a feeding tube. I think that can be out patient.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
