Hey everyone! I'm 2.7 years post op. I've maintained about a 140 lb weight loss. I have a lot of loose skin and I honestly feel like I can't fully enjoy my body until I get some of this skin off.

The problem is I can't afford it. I spent everything on the surgery (insurance didn't cover) and I'm not making much money right now because I decided to go back to school.

I am currently living in Texas. I would love to know how some of you paid for your plastics. Was it hard to make payments? What options are there usually?

I'd like to get my belly skin, breasts and arms lifted. I am just looking at arms right now and just that alone is $14000. I just need any ideas or out-of-the-box suggestions. The weight loss surgery and weight loss/maintenance was one thing, but making this next step happen feels impossible sometimes.

Medical Tourism. Think Miami, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Turkiye.

I went with Miami but would have been comfortable with Colombia (Medellin specifically). These are cash markets but some places in the States accept care credit and other medical financing (personally I would not use these services).

I went to Tijuana for my sleeve surgery because insurance would not pay for mine. They were amazing and I know they do plastic surgeries too. Here is the link to their website: https://www.limarp.com/

Prices vary wildly across the country. I had an extended Tummy Tuck, breast lift/augmentation, and arm lift. I was quoted as high as $40,000 in Seattle. I ended up having it done in Miami and paid $16,000.

i had arm lift, breast lift and Tummy Tuck in Canada, and paid roughly 15K CAD for all three (back in 2019); that's about 11K in today's US dollars. Mind you, i did get the panniculectomy portion of the tummy tuck covered by provincial insurance which i believe saved me about 6K CAD.

I should have added, this was in 2021 so I’m sure prices have gone up a bit.

I'm so glad I ran across this thread. I'm hoping to start my surgeries within the next year, but I'm definitely not made of money, so this thread is a huge help.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
