Tips for incorporating Seeds.

oatmeal, rolled oats & porridge are the same thing. Just a culturally differently named food. And I eat them every day. I eat traditional oats. Initially after surgery I was advised instant which are a little more processed then I transitioned to traditional. (Check the ingredients on your pack if it’s just oats your fine.) Then add your own flavours. I add yoghurt, collagen powder, dried cranberries, fresh blueberries and yes seeds.

Otherwise seeds on yoghurt or in salads are good too. You could sprinkle them on anything you may use breadcrumbs too like a cauliflower gratin or add them to any crumb mix for breaded whatever. Try mixing some in your meatballs or meat loaf for a little crunch.

PS. I’ve noticed a few influences being anti oats (probably either being paid to promote an alternative likely a supplement or are pro keto) but they’re fibre & fibre is good for you. It’s filling, helps you poop, can help reduce cholesterol so is good for cardiac health, can help regulate blood sugars, can lower risk of stomach cancer.

I too have noticed the "influences" being antioats. When I was referring to researching oats and finding they're not as good for you as they've once thought, I was referring to American grown / and or processed oats oatmeal. Too many residual pesticides, GMO's, cross contamination, fertilizers and finally stripping the grain.

Make sure you choose non processed high Fiber oats full husk types!

I would love to try this recipe. Do you have the full recipe ?

Oh that sounds good. So I googled and found one recipe tbat omits the egg and a couple with more spices added, but they have oil. What are the measurements? And what temp do you bake them? I recently got a rotary cheese grater so I have been all about trying different cheeses. These sound great.

I use this recipe but omit the oil and use 1/4 cup egg whites instead of the egg and fold in the seeds with the cheese and flour before adding the egg.

I'd probably bake them into some homemade sourdough bread. Something akin to Whole Foods Seeduction Bread for those that are familiar with it?

Thank you, they look delicious

So many good replies already.

I sprinkle seeds onto and into almost EVERYTHING. They are filling and add fab micronutrients. My local supermarket does a big 7 seed toasted mix so I don't have to think about that.

Salads big time. Sandwiches. Porridge (oatmeal). And then every dinner. I do this several times a day. These and nuts are my secret weapons.

This is the porridge of my childhood:

So that’s like sweet grits almost. Very Interesting. I actually like grits with butter and salt. Haven’t had them in a long time but they are really good. I just never learned to make them and the store bought packets just aren’t the same.

I think I will use them more once I’m out of weight loss phase but I want to incorporate some now just to get the variety of nutrition that they offer. Got my labs back this morning and they are good so far. I would like to keep them that way.

The version I grew up with has a smoother silky texture, not really like grits.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
